Despite featuring some electronic and electronic-adjacent mainstays, the single features minimal hip-hop production, allowing the beloved vocalist to take the spotlight once again. In many of the comment sections and discussion threads, fans have celebrated the lyrical content and reminisced on the short career of the late superstar. In September 2019, Juice WRLD let Twitter know just how successful a collab between him and the Weeknd would be, writing that the pair would make a “diamond record” together. And today, the Weeknd might have made the late crooner’s vision come to life. Me and The Weeknd would make a diamond record… — . (@JuiceWorlddd) September 11, 2019 After teasing the release on Tuesday, the Canadian heavyweight dropped a new track, which was his first collaboration with the late emo-rap trailblazer. “Smile,” which features a lyric video of a man painting both artists on canvas — showcases Juice jumping into his inner feelings (“I pray that I get it right this time”) over a delicate piano-turned-trap-beat. Pop-punks Yellowcard, who broke up in 2017, have dismissed their lawsuit against the late emo-rapper Juice WRLD according to the New York Times, for allegedly copying elements of their tune “Holly Wood Died” in his Sting-sampling megahit “Lucid Dreams.” This is probably for the best, though Yellowcard’s lawyer Richard S. Busch pointed out to Pitchfork that “the dismissal was without prejudice, so it can be refilled [sic].” Let’s hope not; United States District Judge Consuelo B. Marshall originally paused the suit after the rapper born Jarad Higgins died of an overdose ruled accidental at age 21. At the time, the band was seeking a $15 million judgment, though they relented after Higgins’ mother Carmela Wallace was appointed as administrator of Juice WRLD’s estate. When reached for comment...

The first posthumous album from the late Chicago hip-hop artist Juice WRLD has arrived. The 21-track LP features previously released singles “Righteous,” “Tell Me U Luv Me” with Trippie Redd, “Life’s a Mess” with Halsey, and “Come & Go,” which was produced by Marshmello. Tucked away in the expansive project is a scintillating track by the name of “Man of the Year,” which was produced by Skrillex. The production is markedly more reminiscent of Skrillex’s time with alt-rock band From First to Last than his own electronic sound, with crunchy guitar riffs that meld seamlessly with Juice WRLD’s unique hip-punk style. Legends Never Die represents Juice WRLD’s third solo studio album. He rel...
