Julia Louis-Dreyfus: We Need “Normalcy in Washington” Before a Veep Reboot

Since Veep premiered in 2012, the happenings of Vice President Selina Meyer and her colorful cohorts have hit increasingly closer to home. A lot has happened since the political sitcom’s 2019 finale, but its star Julia Louis-Dreyfus thinks the ship has sailed on a reboot: “I don’t know how we could,” she told Variety. The former Seinfeld actor said that she’s been asked to reprise the role of Selina Meyer before, but she’s turned it down: “[Americans need] multiple years of normalcy in Washington before we could revisit something.” Veep certainly took inspiration from real-life events on Capitol Hill, but Louis-Dreyfus thinks satirizing something along the lines of the January 6th, 2021 insurrection would be in bad taste. “I don’t know how we could,” she said, unable to think of ...

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Spoofs Rudy Giuliani to Announce Veep Table Read Fundraiser: Watch

When life imitates Veep, Veep imitates life. To announce another political fundraising event from the cast of the hit HBO comedy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus pulled off her best Rudy Giuliani impression — melting face and all. With makeup cascading down her head like so much running hair dye, Louis-Dreyfus took to Instagram to announce a Veep virtual table read. Mocking Giuliani’s wide-eyed lying about thousands of cases of alleged voter fraud and his rambling asides, the actress pointed out that “many brave and patriotic Americans have come forward having witnessed similarities between our ongoing election and the TV show Veep.” As such, the original Veep cast has decided to come together once again to highlight those too-real-to-be-funny parallels with a table read of the Emmy-winning episode “M...

Mr Funsho, a cardiologist based in Lagos, Nigeria, is the first Rotary member to receive this honour for the organisation’s work to eradicate polio, having played an essential role in ensuring Africa’s certification as wild polio-free in August of 2020. “I’m honored to be recognized by TIME for my part in ensuring that no child in Africa will ever again be paralyzed by wild polio, a disease that once disabl...

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Skewers Trump During Democratic National Convention: Watch

During a presidential campaign, the vice presidential nominee typically serves as the attack dog. Former Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus certainly played that role during the final night of the Democratic National Convention. While serving as the evening’s host, Louis-Dreyfus repeatedly ripped Donald Trump with stinging one-liners. “Joe Biden goes to church so regularly that he doesn’t even need tear gas and a bunch of federalized troops to get there,” Louis-Dreyfus remarked at one point. Later, she proclaimed, “If we all vote there is nothing Facebook, Fox News or Vladimir Putin can do to stop us.” While recounting the time Biden reached out after reading an article about her in the Amtrak magazine Arrive, Louis-Dreyfus quipped, “Joe Biden not only knows how to read, but also, he reads ever...

Jerry Stiller Gave Seinfeld Its Greatest Blooper

Jerry Stiller stole the screen. That’s not exactly a hot take, so much as it’s a known fact, but it’s worth saying on the day of his death. At 92 years old, the legendary comic lived a lifetime of on-screen vitriol, the likes of which felt limitless and ageless. So, if there’s anything more to say, it’s that we didn’t just lose a person, we lost an energy. Because really, nobody could dust up a storm like Stiller. It’s why most of his famous lines all end with quotations, be it “Serenity now!” or “A Festivus for the rest of us!” or “That’s what I’m talking about!” Hell, he couldn’t even reference colleagues without making a banner statement, which is why we’ll always scream names like “Sid Farkus.” Now, it’s almost impossible to distill a legacy into one clip, but if there was a proper In ...

Jerry Stiller Tributes: Jason Alexander, Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kevin James Honor Comic Icon

Jerry Stiller, legendary actor and comic of Seinfeld and The King of Queens, passed away on Monday morning. In the wake of his passing at the age of 92, countless co-stars and fellow colleagues offered their thoughts and condolences. His son, Ben, broke the news this morning on Twitter: “I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes. He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.” Jason Alexander, who portrayed his on-screen son George Costanza in Seinfeld, tweeted: “He was perhaps the kindest man I ever had the honor to work beside. He made me laugh when I was a child and every day I was with him. A great actor, a great man, a lovely friend.” Editors̵...
