After two very long years, fans will finally get to see BTS live in person again — well, so long as they can fly to the West Coast. The K-pop legends have just announced a series of special concerts in Los Angeles, California that will take place later this year. Hailed as “BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE — LA,” BTS will perform live at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on November 27th, November 28th, December 1st, and December 2nd. These will be the group’s first face-to-face shows since wrapping up “BTS WORLD TOUR ‘LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF’ [THE FINAL],” a larger-than-life finale for one of the best tours of the decade, in 2019. As is the new normal, all four BTS tour dates will abide by “the national and regional health regulations and circumstances.” SoFi Stadium does not currently requ...
Lizzo’s talent for covers is well known, and during a recent visit to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, she showed love to the biggest K-pop band on the planet. During the appearance, Lizzo tipped her hat to BTS by performing their No. 1 hit, “Butter.” While BTS’s original iteration of “Butter” is a shimmery, synth-pop jam, Lizzo tones it down a notch with a more spare crew of backup musicians and singers. Her version gives the track a retro, funky flair that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Parliament record. Before diving into “Butter,” Lizzo also performed her latest single “Rumors” sans Cardi B. You can listen to both below. Back in early 2020, the rapper/singer/flautist trifecta wowed us with a cover of her pal Harry Styles’ “Adore You” for BBC Radio 1. It came on the heels of Styles’ take...

In September of 2018, a 24-year old Kim Namjoon of BTS (often known by his stage name RM) stood before the United Nations General Assembly and delivered a speech in partnership with UNICEF, notecards held in shaky hands. The speech was in English, and the leader of the seven-member Korean group concluded by saying: “I have many faults and I have many more fears, but I am going to embrace myself as hard as I can, and I’m starting to love myself gradually, just little by little. What is your name? Speak yourself.” Things have changed a bit since then — BTS addressed the UN again virtually in 2020 with all the members giving remarks almost entirely in Korean; today (September 20th), all seven members (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin, and Jungkook) addressed the assembly in person, and in thei...

What’s her name? BLACKPINK’s Lisa has finally dropped her debut solo release LALISA via YG Entertainment/Interscope Records. The two-track single album contains two songs: “LALISA” and “MONEY.” Take a listen below. Rumblings of the Thai rapper’s impending solo single began back in April when YG Entertainment confirmed to The Korean Herald that she was cooking up music sans her bandmates. Then, at the end of last month, YG teased the single with a short clip from the music video. With the release, Lisa has officially become the third member of the K-pop girl group to unveil solo tracks, following Jennie’s “Solo” back in 2018 and Rosé’s “On the Ground” and “Gone” earlier this year. Only fourth member Jisoo has yet to get her own solo moment outside of the group. Advertisement Related Vi...
BTS are adding yet another title to their long, long list of accomplishments. Today, the K-pop idols have officially been named to the 2022 Guinness World Records Hall of Fame. “THE Boys ARE IN THE BOOK,” the organization tweeted to share the news alongside a photo of the band holding their plaques. “After breaking countless records throughout 2021, they have also cemented their place in the Guinness World Records Hall of Fame.” The whopping 23 records set by the Korean boy band now include most streamed group on Spotify (16.3 billion), most Twitter engagements for a music group, most followed music group on Instagram (48.7 million and counting), and most tickets sold for a livestreamed concert (765,000). Korean artists DJ Soda, Ahin of supergroup MOMOLAND, and Lost Chameleon have teamed up on “Okay!” an uplifting, party-starting anthem that combines energizing dance grooves with catchy K-pop influences. DJ Soda returns with her first offering of 2021 and it’s her most polished, radio-ready hit in recent memory. DJ Soda spent much of last year finding success with heavier sonics including the melodic dubstep original “Shooting Star” and the innovative hard house original, “Obsession.” DJ Soda’s latest offering is a pivot on her brand of house with distinctly poppier flavors. Keeping the brisk 140BPM grooves, she swaps out the heavier sonics of yesteryear with piano-driven melodies and bubbly leads. The song features stro...
Megan Thee Stallion has linked up with BTS for a new remix of their long-running No. 1 hit, “Butter.” Stream it below. Earlier this week, it was briefly unclear if Megan’s “Butter” remix would see the light of day. In court documents filed on Tuesday in Harris County, Texas, Megan alleged that her label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, was blocking her from releasing the track. According to Variety, a judge ruled in favor of the rapper. This wasn’t the first time Megan has entered a legal dispute with 1501. Last year, she filed a lawsuit against the label for allegedly preventing her from releasing an EP titled Suga. At the time, she was granted a temporary restraining order. Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai are definitively in their emo era, doubling down with an extra heaping of angst on this repackaged version of their May release, The Chaos Chapter: Freeze.
