Oyo discharges 11 coronavirus patients
The Oyo State Task Force on COVID-19, on Friday, recorded a major victory in its ongoing fight against the novel Coronavirus when it discharged 11 persons after they tested negative to COVID-19 twice. A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted a member of the Task Force and former Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Professor Temitope Alonge, as saying that after the discharge of the 11 cases, the Centre now had 32 patients, and that all but one, were in stable condition. Nigeria’s confirmed coronavirus cases top 5,000
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria has now exceeded 5,000 on Thursday night. Announcing the new development, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said the country on Thursday, recorded 193 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in Nigeria to 5,162. Kano quarantines over 2000 almajiris
Kano state government has quarantined over 2000 Almajiris to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state, the second hotspot of the virus after Lagos State. The Kano state Commissioner of Health Ibrahim Tsanyawa confirmed this to newsmen that a team of rapid response experts have been trained to manage the Almajiris at their quarantine centres. Tsanyawa revealed that the trainees were selected from medical doctors, nurses, community health workers and laboratory scientists to test and screen the Almajiris at their in their camps in Kiru, Gabasawa and Karaye Local Government Areas of the state. NSCDC intercepts 70 travel ban violators in Oyo
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, on Wednesday, intercepted 70 travellers for allegedly violating the ban on interstate traveling. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the travellers, who occupied three trucks, were intercrpted at 12:52 a.m. at Ogbomoso High School in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of the state. The state NSCDC Commandant, Iskilu Akinsanya, said that the affected travellers comprised of 69 males and one female. Akinsanya said the trucks with registration numbers, KBK 826 Kano, KTG 137 ZZ and AE61KKR were coming from Bauchi and Kastina States. Nigeria’s coronavirus deaths jump to 158
Nigeria has recorded 158 Coronavirus deaths, with Lagos and Kano topping the chat. According to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Tuesday, Lagos and Kano both have 33 coronavirus deaths each. Borno recorded 16 deaths while Sokoto rakes in 13 deaths from the deadly pandemic. Katsina ramps up 11 deaths, while FCT has seven and Ogun and Zamfara have five deaths each. Others are: Edo and Osun, four deaths; Bauchi, Kaduna, Kebbi, Rivers and Delta recorded three deaths respectively; Jigawa, Oyo, Akwa Ibom recorded three cases each, while Gombe, Kwara, Nasarawa, Yobe, Ondo and Ekiti have recorded one case each. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 146 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 4,787. Nigeria governors meet Wednesday on quick way out of coronavirus effects
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum says it will meet on Wednesday to review the situation of COVID-19 pandemic in various states, and as well find paths for a quick way out of the effects of the pandemic. The COVID-19 Team Leader at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Dr. Yunusa Thairu, has given a rare insight into the treatment regimen for the COVID-19, explaining how a cocktail of an anti-retroviral drug, Aluvia, as well as Zinc and Vitamin C tablets are deployed. President Buhari appoints new RMAFC scribe, CMD chief
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mohammad Bello Shehu as Secretary, Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) for initial first term of five(5) years with effect from 19th March 2020. He also has approved the appointment of Mr Bitrus Danharbi Chinoko as the Substantive Director General of the Centre for Management Development (CMD) Lagos, with effect from 27th April 2020. Until this appointment, Mr Chinoko was in an acting capacity at the CMD.
