BTS Stop Traffic Performing “Butter” on Corden: Watch

BTS literally stopped traffic during their latest appearance on Corden, blocking Geneese Ave in Los Angeles to perform “Butter,” “Permission to Dance,” “and “Dynamite.” This is becoming a habit for James Corden, who halted traffic over the summer with a reviled flash mob. But if anyone can make spending more time in LA traffic lovable, it’s the Bangtan Boys. For their performance of “Butter,” they sang alongside dancers dressed as sticks of emulsified cream. A sign labelled “BUT” rolled from one side of the street to be joined by “TER” coming the other way, as the K-Pop idols churned through their choreography. Like the product for which it was named, this “Butter” might give you a heart attack. Check out all three performances below. BTS, who after playing a record-setting series of ...

Billie Eilish Confirms Her Rock Star Status with SNL Performance of “Happier Than Ever”: Watch

In 2019, Dave Grohl famously proclaimed Billie Eilish as the future of rock ‘n’ roll. “The same thing is happening with her that happened with Nirvana in 1991,” Grohl said. “People say, ‘Is rock dead?’ When I look at someone like Billie Eilish, rock and roll is not close to dead!” While some may scoff at the comparison, one needs to look no further than Eilish’s Saturday Night Live performance of “Happier Than Ever” to see one of the more kick ass concert moments in recent memory. The title track to Eilish’s sophomore LP began as a hushed ballad sung from a love seat positioned on an on-set living room. However, as the song reached its crescendo, the 20-year-old singer assumed the role of rock ‘n’ roll frontwoman, leading her brother Finneas and drummer Andrew Marshall with the same unbrid...

BTS Perform “Butter” to Celebrate the 1,000th Episode of Corden: Watch

Last night, The Late Late Show with James Corden celebrated its 1,000th episode, of which approximately 999 featured BTS  (ok, that’s a slight exaggeration, though Corden undoubtedly wishes it were true). To honor the occasion, the Bangtan Boys returned once again to perform a rendition of their record-breaking hit, “Butter.” BTS sang the song live with a backing track, and if you’ve been following these performances closely, you’ll be able to hear a marked improvement in their English accents from just a few months ago. After a two-year marathon, the world’s most famous septet are getting close to a well-deserved “extended period of rest,” and this iteration of “Butter” was much looser than usual — a bit breathier at times, with slightly more ad-libbing on the mic, and a goofy dance ...

Wet Leg Make US TV Debut by Performing “Chaise Longue” on Seth Meyers: Watch

After releasing just four songs, Wet Leg have earned a considerable amount of buzz from websites just like this one, and last night the British indie rockers stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers for a performance of “Chaise Longue.” The track appears on the band’s upcoming self-titled debut album, due out April 8th, 2022 via Domino. Wet Leg founders Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers clearly enjoyed making their US TV debut, exchanging sly glances while getting away with singing tongue-in-cheek lyrics like “I went to school and I got the big D” on air. Further showing off their wry humor, “Chaise Longue” also alludes to a scene from Mean Girls (“Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?”). Watch Wet Leg’s performance below. Fueled by a chugging guitar riff, it’...

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss Perform “Trouble With My Lover” and “Can’t Let Go” on Colbert: Watch

On Friday (November 19th), Robert Plant and Alison Krauss released Raise the Roof, their long-awaited new collaborative album composed largely of covers made famous by blues, country, folk, and soul pioneers. To celebrate the occasion, the Led Zeppelin frontman and the bluegrass singer stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, playing “Trouble With My Lover” and “Can’t Let Go.” With their band set up remotely in a studio filled with rustic decor, Plant and Krauss’ performance only further testifies to their incredible musical chemistry. On “Trouble With My Lover” — a moody number originally sung by New Orleans blues icon Betty Harris in 1969 — Krauss takes the lead, showing off her powerhouse vocals. “Can’t Let Go,” which was written by Randy Weeks and later covered by Lucin...

Ahead of their massive world tour next year, the rock band have announced Living Proof: The War On Drugs Global Live Event, which will go down on Thursday, December 9th. Damon Albarn Brings “Darkness to Light” on Fallon: Watch

Damon Albarn celebrated this week’s release of his new album, The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows, by stopping by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday night (November 12th). As the evening’s musical guest, the musician delivered a stunning rendition of his song “Darkness to Light.” While most of us are more used to Albarn rocking out as the frontman of Blur or taking on an animated persona with Gorillaz, his solo work positions him as a soft-rock crooner. With a full backing band, Albarn was able to stick to vocals alone; with a black-and-white filter placed over the footage, it makes for one arresting performance. (Notably, his mullet is still in full force.) Watch him sing “Darkness to Light” on Fallon below. Albarn first conceptualized The Nearer th...

Phoebe Bridgers Takes MUNA to Prom Performing “Silk Chiffon” on Cordon: Watch

Phoebe Bridgers and MUNA  put themselves on the prom court during a performance of “Silk Chiffon” on The Late Late Show with James Corden. A sea of pink balloons framed the stage, as MUNA stood in front of silver fringe curtain with the word “MUNA” spelled out in latex and helium. Vocalist Katie Gavin wore a flowing skirt and a tiara, though the skirt didn’t make it through the first verse before it was flung away. Bridgers stepped out of the wings before the second verse wearing a tiara of her own, and together they rocked through the irresistible track. Check out “Silk Chiffon” below. “Silk Chiffon” came out in September and we named it our Song of the Week. Both Phoebe Bridgers and MUNA are currently on tour. You can book tickets to see Bridgers here, and y...

Snail Mail Makes You Her “Valentine” on Colbert: Watch

On Friday, Lindsey Jordan released Valentine, her highly-anticipated sophomore album as Snail Mail. To celebrate the occasion, the indie rocker made her late-night TV debut on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, performing the album’s fiery title track. Donning her own take on 19th century menswear, Jordan brought her ’90s alt-rock flair to Colbert’s live studio. In line with the album’s theme, the stage was adorned with bouquets of heart-shaped balloons, countless roses, and one final balloon drop at the end of the song for good measure — in short, enough decorations to make you forget that February 14th is still three months away. Still, Snail Mail’s performance of “Valentine” is good enough to make you swoon any time of year. Check it out below. Valentine follows Snail Mail’s ...

Olivia Rodrigo Performs “traitor” on Kimmel: Watch

After the year she’s had, Olivia Rodrigo has earned her flowers, and she brought hundreds — perhaps thousands — of them to the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! for her performance of the SOUR cut “traitor.” A longtime Disney star, Rodrigo is no stranger to television. For her new appearance on the ABC stages, she posted up in front of a piano in a manicured floral field. As the bitter pop tune progressed, her band appeared out of the shadows to flesh out the orchestration, but Rodrigo was never long out of frame. Elsewhere on the show, Rodrigo sat for an interview with Kimmel. She told him about her experience visiting the White House, as well as the incredibly strange gifts she was presented with by President Biden: Ray-Bans, M&Ms, and for some reason, a shoehorn. Check o...

Brandi Carlile Makes Saturday Night Live Debut: Watch

Some 18 years into her brilliant career, Brandi Carlile finally got her turn as Saturday Night Live’s musical guest. The six-time Grammy Award winner supported her latest album, In These Silent Days, by performing “Broken Horses” and “Right On Time.” Watch replays of both below. Carlile appeared opposite host SNL alumnus and Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis, whose return to Studio 8H was well worth the wait. Together, the Sudeikis-Carlile combo made for a standout episode in SNL’s still-young 47th season. Carlile has yet to announce a proper tour in support of In These Silent Days, but has spent plenty of time on stage as of late. In addition to playing SNL, she recently shared the stage with both Pearl Jam and the surviving members of Soundgarden, and covered Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock.” Spe...

Lana Del Rey Performs “Arcadia” on Stephen Colbert: Watch

Lana Del Rey celebrated the release day of her new album, Blue Banisters, by paying a visit to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. As the evening’s musical guest, the pop crooner gave a performance of the album’s lead single, “Arcadia.” “Arcadia” already calls to mind Del Rey’s earlier career highlights like “Video Games,” but her outfit and the black-and-white filter of her remote performance especially felt like a throwback to 2012. With a stripped-down piano background and minimal stage decor, Del Rey’s voice took the forefront, making the simple track feel all the more poignant. Watch her performance below. Now that Blue Banisters has finally arrived, it seems Del Rey might be taking some time away from the public eye: After some questionable missteps over the past year or so...
