Still, unfortunately, an on-stage incident left him bruised, battered, and out of the game for the foreseeable future. Variety reports that while he was performing “Back In Blood” on stage, Lil Durk accidentally walked directly into two on-stage pyrotechnic smoke flares and got a face full of smoke that left him reeling for a moment. The sweat is just drying from this weekend’s blow-out 2022 edition of Lollapalooza on the lakefront in Chicago, which means that it’s already time to start gearing up for next summer. As fans were straggling home following this year’s blowout featuring Metallica, Lil Baby, Dua Lipa, Machine Gun Kelly, J. Cole, Big Sean, Kygo, Green Day, Dua Lipa, Charlie XCX and the first solo show by BTS‘ J-Hope, organizers revealed on Monday morning (Aug. 1) that they will return for more around the same time next year, and for many years to come. A major accident befell Lil Durk during his Lollapalooza set on Saturday, July 30th when an onstage pyrotechnic blew up in his face. In fan-captured video of the performance, the “What Happened to Virgil” rapper can be seen covering his face with his T-shirt after walking through the blast, but ended up finishing his full set after taking a moment to reorient himself. (During the performance, Lil Durk also had what appears to be milk inexplicably thrown at him from the crowd.) Metallica were joined backstage by a special guest ahead of their headlining performance at Lollapalooza on Thursday. Joseph Quinn, who played Eddie Munson on season four of Stranger Things, paid a pre-show visit to the band and even got a chance to join them for a performance of “Master of Puppets.” During a backstage powwow, Metallica’s James Hetfield revealed that he has watched Stranger Things since season one. “[For] my kids and I, it’s been a bonding experience for us,” the band’s frontman explained. Fentanyl Will Be Circulating at Lollapalooza 2022, Chicago DEA Warns

Chicago has reported nearly 1,300 fatal fentanyl overdoses in the last year alone, Fox 32 Chicago reported this week. Now, with the approach of Lollapalooza, the city’s Drug Enforcement Agency is on high alert.  “There’s going to be people walking around with backpacks at Lollapalooza that are going to be selling pills that are going to be laced with fentanyl,” Shane Catone, the division’s Deputy Special Agent in Charge, told Fox 32. “There’s not a doubt in my mind.” According to the report, Catone’s department has seized 80,000 pills containing fentanyl in the city since last October.
