If there’s anything that the Who What Wear team are totally obsessed with, it’s French beauty. Can you blame us? Whether it be French pharmacy skincare favourites, French skincare advice, or French fragrances, we want in on the tips and tricks from across the channel. And who wouldn’t? Much like the fashion, there’s a certain effortlessness that exudes the French fashion crowd’s makeup looks. They always look pulled together, but without looking overdone. Whether it’s flawless skin paired with a bold matte lipstick, dewy skin with a subtle flush of blusher, or a perfectly executed cat-eye, there is so much we can learn from French women. Quite often, it is the simplest makeup looks that work the best. You Deserve to Make Money Ev...
But, of course, no beauty launch is worth writing about unless the formulas themselves are worth it. And trust me when I say these products are winners. Truly, I have never come across a beauty collection quite like this. It is, for lack of a better word, the best beauty collection I’ve ever experienced. In fact, just this afternoon when I posted that I was writing this worthy review on my Instagram I had a number of other beauty insiders message me in agreement (Westmoreland included). My favourite came from content creator Klaudia Kedziora, “I’d sell my soul for this collection. Everything is perfect.” No, there isn’t a tonne of products on offer, but what Dries Van Noten does offer, it does exceptionally well. For starters, the lipsticks...
I’ll happily admit that I spend a lot of time on makeup TikTok. There’s just something oddly calming about watching my favorite makeup artists put on a full face and what they use to take it all off. Every now and then, my curiosity is also piqued by the products they’re using and loving that I *gasp* haven’t tried yet myself. I know it’s hard to believe that there are products left out there on the market that a beauty editor hasn’t tried, but TikTok continues to prove my hypothesis wrong. I decided to poke around and see what my favorite MUAs are using and loving at the moment to inspire my next purchases. If you’re also dying to know what products popular users can’t get enough of, keep scrolling. Some o...
A great highlighter, suited to your skin’s wants and needs, has the ability to supercharge your face at any given moment. Whether you want just a dot of light-reflecting pigment on the tip of your nose or a full-blown doughnut glaze on your cheekbones, a highlighter is the best way to add super-quick radiance to pin-pointed areas of the face and create the illusion of full-face radiance. Having said that, as someone who likes to keep their makeup look low-key (for the most part, anyway), I know all too well how daunting the idea of using highlighter can be. So to help you make the right highlighter decision, I’ve rounded up the very best fool-proof formulas out there to meet your every highlighting need. As we head towards knitwear and boots season–my absolute favourite time of the year–we’ve really spotted a shift in makeup. Naturally, we usually transition our makeup with the changing seasons, but this time it’s not as literal as choosing an autumnal lipstick hue to pair with a roll neck, or packing away our bright eyeliners from the summer. Instead, the autumn/winter 2022 makeup trends this year lend themselves to more of a mood. After a long period of ‘clean girl’ makeup–i.e. no makeup-makeup– we’re now seeing a return to experimenting with lipstick, blusher and eye makeup again. Because makeup is about having fun, right? Bold beauty is back and we’re welcoming it with welcome arms. “I think after two years of masks we are all feeling...

For a long time now, I feel like I’ve been stuck in a makeup rut. Even as a beauty editor, I’ve found myself sticking to the same eyeshadow colours, the same application methods and the same trusty products to apply my makeup. While it’s great to have a tried and tested makeup formula to fall back on busy mornings (a shimmery bronze eyeshadow stick and a glowing bronzer are always staples in my makeup bag) doing the same look with your makeup can get boring, and as your features and skin change over time, what might have worked for you five years ago might not necessarily work for you now. Plus, it’s easier to encounter makeup mistakes when you go on autopilot during your usual routine. So when an email landed in my inbox to have a 1-2-1 makeup masterclass with top ...
The very best crowd-pleasing mascaras, I have learned, are ones whose volumising properties are fully adaptable via application technique. I’m talking about mascaras that pack a seriously impressive volumising punch when you want it and subtle, your-lashes-but-better volume for when you don’t. Most importantly, however, the very best mascaras must, under no circumstances whatsoever, leave lashes looking thick, clumpy or weighed down. Achieving voluminous lashes should never come at the expense of a loss of flutter, after all. And while these mascara criteria might sound a bit too good to be true, I can assure you they’re not. In fact, after many years of trying to find the very best volumising mascaras, I’ve finally drawn up a def...
Right now, it seems like the lip look is a glossy one. Lip gloss is back in full force, baby. I, for one, never thought I’d see a Lancôme Juicy Tubes renaissance in my future, but here we are. And I’m not complaining about it. But although I’ve been experimenting with various lip glosses and oils recently, I’ve decided I will never stray from my tried-and-true matte lipstick. Sure, I might reach for something glossy from time to time, but my go-to is always a matte finish. It’s not exactly on-trend right now, but I think the look is 100% timeless. The finish looks so sophisticated and grown-up, and I instantly feel put-together whenever I have a matte lipstick on. In fact, sometimes when I’m especially lazy about doing my makeup but need to look lik...
Each generation has its defining beauty moments. Being born in 1994, I grew up during the era when thin eyebrows were the look du jour, and as we approached the 2010s, I witnessed—and experienced—the browscape morph into HD brows (which, let’s be honest, wasn’t great either) before we finally settled on a happy medium of growing back our eyebrows, putting down the brow pomade and leaving our brows well alone (thanks, Glossier Boy Brow, for the support). Now, with TikTok beauty booming and Gen Z celebrities such as Olivia Rodrigo, Zendaya and Charithra Chandran stepping on the scene, it’s safe to say we’re entering a new era of beauty. Gen Z makeup trends are big news right now. But rather than trends being set in stone, this time around...
It’s all down to good ol’ trusty bronzer. Gone are the days of excessive bronzer use leaving skin looking orange-toned and Oompa Loompa–like. In fact, after years of over-applying bronzer, I’ve found the new-age formulas actually have people asking me where I’ve been on holiday (and I haven’t even touched a fake tan yet this year). The key, I have learned, is to opt for a glow-boosting (but not shimmery) bronzer. I’m talking silky, melt-like-butter powders with teeny-tiny light-reflecting particles dusted over the top of the forehead, swiped along cheekbones and patted onto the bridge of the nose. Trust me—since I adopted this makeup technique last year, I have people complimenting my tan all year round (when really I’...
The shade range is great. There are 24 shades in total but they’re flexible thanks to the sheer coverage. This is the kind of base that you can just have one shade of and not have to worry about having a summer and winter shade. And the colours are equally split between light, medium and dark with a variety of neutral, cool and warm undertones. It has built-in SPF 20 but I wouldn’t rely on this as your SPF coverage for the day as you would need to apply a lot of it to get that protection so apply SPF before you start your makeup. The best thing about this formula is that it does give a hint of coverage but the main draw is the way it blurs your skin and gives a radiance without being greasy or too shiny. If you’re looking for a base with any noticeable coverage, then this isn’t the b...
