Four years later, the masked Frenchman has returned with his Illegal Mixtape Vol. 3. The 14 tracks embody the perfect compilation of hard-hitting house that is ready to be consumed at a dangerous rate all weekend long.   Malaa enlisted some of the best in bass and house to contribute to the mixtape, including ACRAZE, ALRT, Good Times Ahead, JC Ordonez, Myles X, FRATTA, Kohmi, Keeld, SMILE if you can, and Hooders. Of course, the mysterious mastermind included some of his most recent hits, such as “Don’t Talk” and “Hell” with Koos, along with the new s...

Malaa Uncorks Blistering House Single with Koos, “Hell”

Malaa is raising hell with his latest single, a flamethrower of a collaboration with fellow house music maven Koos. The French compatriots have linked up for the aptly titled “Hell,” which spits fire to the tune of a thumping 128 BPM house rhythm. The collaboration, which arrives by way of Tchami‘s Confession banner, features ominous synth work and screamo-inspired vocals before the drop, imbuing a new level of grit to Malaa’s venerated discography. The drop is also signature Malaa with its groovy G-House flair and menacing, relentless basslines. The recruitment of young gun Koos was also a shrewd move, as the blossoming bass house producer has been making serious noise in the scene thanks to his sinister twist on the genre. “Hell” is set to appear on Ma...

Earlier in the month of August, French compatriots DJ Snake and Malaa joined forces for “Best of Both Worlds,” a collaborative livestreamed DJ set. To no surprise, the tandem threw down, playing out a slew of their own originals as well as a number of unreleased tracks that had their fanbases clamoring to identify them. One of those IDs has now seen the light of day, thanks to the serendipitous release of Malaa’s remix of Snake’s thunderous hybrid trap tune “Trust Nobody.” Malaa takes his patented sound and twists a knife into it, delivering a more ominous take on his penchant for G-House. He produces nasty bass patches in the drop, which run roughshod through a thicket of saturated kicks and menacing percussive patterns. Malaa also decided to go haywire...

Malaa Drops a Funky Homage to Stoners with “Four Twenty”

Malaa is here to represent for all the stoners out there who feel like every day is 4/20 with his brand new single. The French ski-masked artist shared that “Four Twenty” was originally supposed to come out on April 20th, but in true stoner fashion, the producer got a little too high. The intoxicating, aptly-titled single is the perfect soundtrack to blast as we enter into yet another weekend of self-isolation. The single samples Dr. Dre‘s iconic track “Let’s Get High,” transforming it with a funky G-House production, ambient chatter that is great for imagining you’re surrounded by all your friends, and Malaa’s signature use of sirens. Stoners and non-stoners alike can get down with a bassline like this, artfully crafted t...
