This past Sunday (May 23), the New Orleans native and founder of No Limit Records was present at the graduation ceremony at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania along with 400 other graduates and six valedictorians. As spotted on Page Six the New Orleans native is expanding his portfolio in a major way. According to the report he is aiming to take market share away from some legacy brands like Uncle Ben’s and Aunt Jemima. He detailed how he came to this new product launch in an interview with CNN. “When you look at Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben, a lot of those products are mockeries of African-American people and couldn’t even feed our communities. Earlier this year, food products like Uncle Ben’s rice and Aunt Jemima pancake mix came under fire for their racial stereotypes. Quaker was going to change the logo and Aunt Jemima name since it was based on a “racial stereotype.” Now, Master P is offering an alternative to those products. The No Limit entrepreneur is creating his own brand of Louisiana seasoned rice, beans, grits and pancake mix, aptly titled Uncle P’s.
