The 14 Premier League clubs excluded from Super League plans are set for a meeting on Tuesday, according to a report. The aforementioned six teams were among the 12 clubs confirmed for the new competition, which was announced on Sunday. Though six of its biggest clubs have announced their involvement, the Premier League released a strong statement on Sunday condemning the proposal. “The Premier League condemns any proposal that attacks the principles of open competition and sporting merit which are at the heart of the domestic and European football pyramid,” the statement read. “Fans of any club in England and across Europe c...

Martin Odegaard tells friends his stance on potential Arsenal transfer

Martin Odegaard has reportedly opened up to his friends about a potential permanent transfer to Arsenal. According to football.london, the Norway international has been impressed by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta since joining on loan from Real Madrid in January, and could now be keen to stay. However, the report adds that Odegaard won’t push to extend his stay at Arsenal, even if he is keen to do so after being won over by Arteta’s project at the Emirates Stadium. Odegaard has long looked an exciting young talent but has not had many first-team opportunities at Real Madrid down the years. The 22-year-old also caught the eye on loan at Real Sociedad last season, and it seems his time with Arsenal has also been good for him as he’s shown what he can do when given the chance. Arsenal would sur...

The outcast playmaker, 32, sealed his return to homeland Turkey on Sunday and insisted the club’s supporters would ‘forever remain’ in his heart. Ozil said goodbye to his former team-mates at the Emirates last week and has now brought an end to his seven-and-a-half-year stint in the Premier League. In a statement released on Arsenal’s website, Ozil said: ‘I’d like to thank the club for this amazing journey over the past seven and a half years. ‘The support I have felt from the team and fans during my time here has been truly incredible and something I will always be grateful for. ‘Together we won trophies for the first time in years and created memories that w...

Lauren comments on Mesut Ozil’s Arsenal situation

Lauren has given his take on Mesut Ozil not playing for Arsenal at the moment, as quoted on SkySports.com. Ozil has been left out of the Gunners’ Premier League and Europa League squads. Although Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told The London Evening Standard that the attacking midfielder will continue to train with the first-team squad, the 32-year-old will not play a competitive game of football until January at least. Former Arsenal star Lauren has given his opinion on the situation, and although he is disappointed that Ozil is not part of the Gunners’ squad, he seems to back Arteta. Lauren told Sky Sports: “Ozil is a top player, it’s sad to see a top player not being involved in a team like Arsenal. All of us who follow Arsenal want to see the best players but this situation has not ...

Fenerbahce monitoring Mesut Ozil situation at Arsenal

Fenerbahce are monitoring Mesut Ozil’s situation at Arsenal. Frozen out of both the Premier League and Europa League squads by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Ozil won’t play any first team football until January – at the earliest. A move to the USA with DC United has been floated for the former Germany international. However, it’s understood Ozil would prefer to remain in Europe and with his contract inside the final 12 months, he would be willing to negotiate an affordable agreement with long time suitors Fenerbahce. For their part, Arsenal would be willing to grant Ozil a free transfer in January if Fener can settle personal terms. Ian Wright gives verdict on Mesut Ozil situation at Arsenal

Ian Wright has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta deciding to leave Mesut Ozil out of his Premier League squad. Ozil was earlier omitted from Arsenal’s Europa League squad, and Arteta has decided to leave him out of his Premier League squad as well. The German attacking midfielder has been on the books of the Gunners since the summer of 2013 and is out of contract at the North London club at the end of the season. Arsenal legend Wright has given his take on Ozil’s situation, and he has admitted that he is disappointed that the 32-year-old is not going to play for the Gunners. Football will never stop surprising me. The fact that whatever has gone on couldn’t be resolved between the club & Mesut is sad. Sad for everyone involved and I can only se...

Mesut Ozil makes a promise to Arsenal fans, but is it all over for him?

Mesut Ozil has expressed his disappointment on Twitter at not being included in Arsenal’s Premier League squad. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta left Ozil out of his Europa League squad for the 2020-21 campaign, and the Spaniard has decided to omit the former Real Madrid attacking midfielder from the Premier League squad as well. The 32-year-old German has not played a single competitive game for the Gunners since March, and with his contract running out at the end of the season, there is a very good chance that he may have played his last game already for the North London club. Although Ozil has made it clear on Twitter that he is very disappointed with Arteta’s decision, he remains confident in his ability and has vowed that he will continue to work hard and try to get back in the squad. &#x...

‘Get him involved again’ – Wenger sends Arteta message about £350k-a-week star

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who managed the Gunners for 22 years, winning three Premier League titles and a record seven FA Cups, has spoken concerning the career of Mesut Ozil at the club and why Mikel Arteta must find a role for him within the squad.  The Frenchman who signed Ozil for a then club-record fee of £42.4m in an interview with BBC Sport for the launch of his autobiography My Life in Red and White was asked to share his thoughts on the current situation of the £350k-a-week star at Arsenal. He said: “I feel it is a waste for him. “Firstly because he’s in the years where a player of his talent can produce the most. And it’s a waste for the club as well because he’s a super talent, a creative talent that in the final third can create that killer pass. “The way ...

Gareth Bale: Real Madrid blocked my return to Premier League

Gareth Bale has accused Real Madrid of making it “very difficult” to leave the Spanish club as the Wales forward looks to end his Bernabeu exile. Bale is out of favour with Real manager Zinedine Zidane and played just 48 minutes of Madrid’s 12 games when the Spanish season resumed after the coronavirus lockdown. Zidane, who has feuded with Bale throughout his two spells in charge, said the winger did not want to play in last season’s Champions League last-16 second-leg tie at Manchester City. Bale has two years left on his Real contract, but there appears little chance he will force his way into the manager’s plans. The 31-year-old almost joined Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning in 2019 before Real pulled the plug on the deal, a decision that still irks Bale. “I think the club needs...
