Aretha Franklin Biopic ‘Respect’ Delays Release to Late Summer 2021
MGM on Sunday released the teaser trailer for Respect, which follows the rise of Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom. Franklin died in 2018. Helmed by Liesl Tommy in her feature directorial debut, Respect also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Tituss Burgess, Marc Maron, Kimberly Scott, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, Tate Donovan and Mary J. Blige. In a twinned announcement, MGM said it is taking Tomb Raider 2 off the calendar for now.
