Jack White dropped his newest single, “If I Die Tomorrow” on Wednesday (June 8), along with a chilling music video. In the accompanying Brantley Gutierrez-directed clip, White pulls a coffin through a snowy landscape, passing by angels, among other imagery of death and the afterlife. “If I die tomorrow / Will you let me know I left in peace? / I begged and I borrowed / Everybody’s love and they gave for free,” he sings. The Azoff Company Launches Giant Music Record Label With First Release

Giant Music is officially in business. The label, a venture from Irving Azoff and his son Jeffrey Azoff, has launched in earnest with an announcement Wednesday (June 8) that Atlanta-based trap artist SwaVay has signed to Def Jam Recordings through Giant Music. The first song, “JUGG,” leads the act’s forthcoming project Almetha’s Son with release details to be announced soon. This partnership appears to be a one-off deal with Def Jam, and whether Giant Music will continue a relationship with Def Jam or its parent company Universal Music Group is yet to be seen. Neu! 50th Anniversary Box Set Announced With New Tribute Album

The 1972 self-titled album from Neu!—the Krautrock project of Michael Rother and the late Klaus Dinger—turns 50 this year. To celebrate, a 50th anniversary box set is coming on September 23 via Grönland. The vinyl and CD boxes come with the band’s first three albums (and, for the CD box, Neu! ’86), plus a new tribute album featuring remixes and reworks from the National, Mogwai, Idles, and others. Sasami has released an alternate version of her Squeeze song “Tried to Understand.” The new rendition features Dinosaur Jr. frontman J Mascis on lead guitar and Ty Segall on drums. Reigning Sound, the Memphis-born rock group led by Greg Cartwright, are disbanding after 20 years. Cartwright announced the news today (June 8) on social media, noting that they are calling off their upcoming summer European tour. “We are also formally announcing the end of the group,” Cartwright wrote in a statement. “COVID has proven to be a long-lasting concern and more difficult to navigate than anyone could have anticipated.
