With her sophomore album SOS, SZA has earned her first No. 1 album, and the fifth biggest debut in all of 2022. SOS moved 318,000 equivalent units in its first week of release. That makes for the fifth-biggest debut of the year, following Taylor Swift’s Midnights (1.578 million), Harry Styles’ Harry’s House (521,000), Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss (404,000) and, Beyoncé’s Renaissance (332,000). Pink Floyd surprised fans by quietly releasing 18 concerts they performed during their The Dark Side of the Moon era on streaming. According to reports, the performances are from 1972 and hears the group perform the The Dark Side of the Moon album in its entirety a year before it was officially released. Many of the performances sound like repossessed bootlegs as per Variety, with vinyl scratches, changes in sound and quality and lack of completion present throughout the 18 recordings. A crowd crush at the doors of London’s O2 Academy Brixton last night led eight people to be hospitalized, four of whom were in critical condition, The Guardian and The New York Times report. Larger than expected crowds had descended upon the 5,000-capacity venue, some without tickets, according to reports. Videos on social media and BBC News show a teeming crowd gathered outside with no flow in or out of the venue, as hundreds tried to gain entry to the final concert of Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake’s three-night residency. Terry Hall, the lead singer of the legendary ska band the Specials and former member of Fun Boy Three and the Colourfield, has died, his bandmates in the Specials have confirmed. Pusha T has revealed that he resigned as the president of Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label in a new interview with XXL. When explicitly asked if he was still the president of the company, Pusha T responded, “No, I’m not.” The interviewer then asked him to further clarify that he’s “not tied with G.O.O.D. Music anymore in any way,” and the rapper confirmed that’s the case. On Friday (Dec. 16th), Garland issued directives to federal prosecutors to pursue the same charges and establish equivalent sentencing for both cocaine powder and crack cocaine. The current law sees people who are convicted of possessing 28 grams of crack cocaine receive a mandatory sentence of five years in prison.
