He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Well, it’s been 23 years [since SKID ROW reformed], so to say that I’m over it would be an understatement. We attempted [a reunion] slightly [back in 2016]. We dipped our toes in the water and realized that it didn’t feel so good. It’s just one of those things where we still could not see eye to eye; we couldn’t even get past the point of simple texting. “I am really, really happy where we are,” Snake continued. “I’m very proud of our past, and all due credit to everyb...

Third Man Records to Issue Prince’s Previously Unreleased 1986 Album Camille

Third Man Records have revealed plans to issue Prince’s previously unreleased 1986 album Camille. “We’re finally going to put it out,” label co-founder Ben Blackwell told Mojo. “Prince’s people agreed – almost too easy.” The late musician originally planned on dropping the LP under his pseudonym Camille, a feminine alter-ego he embodied through pitched-up vocals and androgynous fashion, but the album was shelved shortly after getting a test pressing. Camille includes eight tracks in total, all of which have been officially released—although hard to track down, to some extent—over the years. “Housequake,” “Strange Relationship,” and “If I Was Your Girlfriend” appear on Sign o’ the Times; “Feel U Up” is the B-side to Batman single “Partyman;” “Shockadelica” is the B-side to 1987 single “If I...

Billboard Explains: South by Southwest

South by Southwest takes over Austin, Texas, every year, intertwining film, music and interactive media — but how did it become one of the arts’ biggest festivals? The inaugural SXSW took place in 1987 as an extension of an already-existing New York City festival. When those plans fell through, Ronald Swenson of the Austin Chronicle — who is now the CEO of SXSW — decided to co-organize it as a local music festival. SXSW has 15 tracks of programming in various formats, including summits, keynotes, panels, workshops, podcasts and more. “It would be like if every creative person in the world went on spring break together in Austin, Texas,” Brian Hobbs, SXSW programming manager, tells Billboard‘s Tetris Kelly. With inspiring speakers, major film screenings and headline-making performances...
