Steve Albini Offers to Produce Dolly Parton’s Rock Record
After Dolly Parton removed herself from consideration for the Rock and Roll of Fame, saying she first needed to make a great rock record, she got an offer from a man who’s helped more artists into those hallowed halls than just about anyone living: Steve Albini. Parton was nominated for the Class of 2022 in February alongside Eminem, Rage Against the Machine, and more. The first batch of performers for this years Grammys has been announced, Variety notes. Billie Eilish, BTS, Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow, Olivia Rodrigo, and Brandi Carlile are set to perform at the event, which takes place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on April 3. The event airs live at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS and livestreams on Paramount+, where it will remain available on demand. Trevor Noah will once again host the show. Mike Mora, Kelis’ Husband, Dies at 37
Mike Mora, the photographer who married Kelis in 2014, has died of stomach cancer, a representative for the singer confirmed to Pitchfork. In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Steve Satterhwaite of Red Light Management said, “Sadly, it’s true that Mike Mora has passed away. We would ask all to respect Kelis and her family’s privacy as of right now. Thank you.” Mike Mora was 37 years old. After marrying in 2014, Kelis and Mike Mora welcomed their son Shepherd in November 2015. Nearly five years later, in September 2020, Kelis announced the birth of her second child with Mora. Mavis Staples has announced Carry Me Home, a new album of live music recorded with the Band’s Levon Helm in Woodstock, New York in 2011. It’s due out May 20 via Anti-.
