Gunna Has Been Released from Jail

Just over seven months ago, Young Thug, Gunna and 26 other Young Stoner Life (YSL) associates were part of a 56-count grand jury indictment in Fulton County, leading to the arrest of both artists. Centered around charges of conspiring to violate the RICO Act, murder, armed robbery and participation in criminal street gang activity, the sizable case has left both jailed with discussion of possible life sentences for those involved in the case from the district attorney. However, Gunna, after being sentenced to five years, has now been released after serving seven months of time, according to a report by WSB-TV Atlanta. Further details revealed in the report include that the rapper entered an Alfred plea, one that allows the defendant to plea guilty while not admitting that they committed th...

Liquid Stranger Is No Stranger to a Good Time On the “DIMENSIONS” Tour

Tasked with guiding my friend through his first EDM concert, I was confident Liquid Stranger would take good care of us. The Wakaan boss brought his DIMENSIONS tour to the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, B.C. on November 26th for a night of head-banging, hip-swinging fun. I took a small survey of festival-goers at Thunderdome earlier this year and Liquid Stranger was overwhelmingly among the lineup’s favorites. That reputation was well-deserved. Already a fan of his music—songs like “Dissolve,” “Dragonhawks” and “Don’t Stop” serve as building blocks for some of my most cherished playlists—it was reassuring to see his live performance measure up. Stranger was also trusted to close out the final day of Beyond Wonderland at the Gorge’s Ch...

Detroit Techno Icon Jeff Mills Soundtracks Dior’s Fall 2023 Runway Show at Pyramids of Giza

Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills was the artist behind the sound of Dior’s Fall 2023 runway show soundtrack. Affectionately known as “The Wizard,” Mills partnered with fashion designer Kim Jones for the science fiction-influenced collection. The Dior show, which went down Sunday, December 4th, was aptly titled “Celestial.” Flaunting bright, futuristic and otherworldly fashion in front of the Pyramids of Giza, the runway could’ve easily been a Cercle show. Throughout the show, Mills’ tracks “Step To Enchantment,” “Gamma Player,” “Microbe” and “Daphnis (Keeler’s Gap)” accompanied the flashy walks. Jones mentioned that techno is a perfect complementary genre for the elements of the 75-piece as...

Gunna to Be Released from Prison After Pleading Guilty in Racketeering Charge

Gunna is set to be released from prison after pleading guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge against him, Young Thug, and 26 other associates, local Atlanta news outlets report. The rapper — born Sergio Kitchens — entered an Alford plea, a type of negotiation in which a defendant still maintains their innocence, but admits that evidence would likely result in a guilty verdict if the case were to go to trial. Gunna had been sentenced to five years with one being served in prison. The remaining four years of his sentence have been suspended and will be subject to special conditions, including 500 hours of community service. Decisive Pink (Angel Deradoorian and Kate NV) Drop Debut Single “Haffmilch Holiday”: Stream

Former Dirty Projectors multi-instrumentalist Angel Deradoorian and current Glintshake singer Kate NV have formed a new project called Decisive Pink. To mark their signing to Fire Records, they’ve shared their debut single, “Haffmilch Holiday.” Listen to the duo’s first track below. Both Deradoorian and Kate NV are known for playing guitar, but Decisive Pink build their sound through the layering of modular synthesizers. “Haffmilch Holiday” hearkens back to the earliest electronic music, with a few initial computerized beeps giving way to robotic percussion and reverb-drenched vocals. The single was inspired by Decisive Pink’s time recording their debut album in Köln, where every morning they would walk to a local coffee shop and order haffmilch cappuccino. In a statement, Decisive Pink ex...

Metro Boomin Is Working on New Music for ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’

Metro Boomin may have just released Heroes & Villains less than two weeks ago, but the hip-hop producer is already back in the studio making new music for the forthcoming film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. A trailer for the animated movie was shared by Sony on Tuesday. At the same time, Young Metro took to social media to share a graphic of him in Spider-Man form wearing a black Spidey suit and matching bandana. The producer himself didn’t reveal any information about his role in the film’s development but his participation was confirmed later Tuesday evening during an afterparty for the trailer’s premiere. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the writers of Across the Spider-Verse, said the soundtrack is inspired by what they felt teenage graffiti artist-turned-Spider-Man Miles Morales ...

Monaleo Is the Most Honest Rapper in the Game

Rapping was never in the cards for Monaleo – at the very least, “rapper” is a title she’s been reluctant to claim since achieving viral stardom. It was only two years ago that the 21-year-old Houston native, whose real name is Leondra Gay, tagged along with her brother, the rapper Yung Rampage, for one of his studio sessions. While she grew up singing in church, it was only after some familial encouragement that she got behind the mic herself, trading bars with her brother on-the-fly in a series of clips shared online. While documentation of the sister-brother duo’s early recordings has since been wiped from the internet, encouragement from fans on social media and the growing like count on her videos planted the seeds for Monaleo’s next move. Then a student at Texas’ Prairie View A&M ...

Diddy Shares R&B-Heavy New Single “Sex in the Porsche”

Diddy is keeping it chill with his new track, “Sex in the Porsche.” The single features a vibe-heavy feature from Canadian artist and producer PARTYNEXTDOOR. After opening the song with distinctly choppy vocals, PARTYNEXTDOOR hands it over to Diddy, who jumps in with a laidback verse. “I invented champagne makin’ love in the rain / No way out this, might be the last train,” he raps. “Showed her s**t she never could see / She think she dreamin,’ I had to tell her to breathe.” PARTYNEXTDOOR rejoins, crooning the song’s title on repeat. While not a standout, it’s a fun, rhythmic listen for R&B fans. “Sex in the Porsche” follows Diddy’s June collaboration with Louisville rapper Bryson Tiller on the single “Gotta Move On.” Both tracks are expected to appear on Diddy’s forthcoming fifth stud...
