Jin Becomes First BTS Member To Enlist in Military Service

Jin is the first member of BTS to begin their mandatory military service. The 30-year-old began his service on Tuesday at a front-line boot camp located in Yeoncheon, South Korea, where he’ll undergo training for five weeks before being assigned to a military unit elsewhere in the country. BTS announced in June that they would be going on hiatus as the K-pop boyband’s members complete their military service requirement, which, by law, requires healthy men to serve in South Korea’s army for 18 to 21 months. Service is typically supposed to be fulfilled before the age of 28, though as a K-pop star, Jin was able to defer for a few years. As the oldest member of BTS, Jin, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, is the first to enlist. BTS is expected to reconvene in 2025 when all seven members have c...

Chatter filled the dead air between sets. A packed house scanned left and right for signs of the headliner. A hush fell over the crowd as crackling and whirling teased an imminent departure to the “WalkerVerse.” Pockets of cheering broke out as the audience was confronted by a large, red cybernetic eye interacting wit...

Shutting people out and dealing with that,” Elderbrook said in a statement. “The song means a lot to me, I’m so happy to have it coming out finally a...

Watch RÜFÜS DU SOL Take On Nirvana Classic for First “Like A Version” Cover In Eight Years

Channeling the influences of the legendary Kurt Cobain is a tall task, but RÜFÜS DU SOL took it head-on for “Like A Version.” triple j’s long-running cover series recently invited the Grammy-winning trio back for the first time since 2014, when they mashed up Foals’ “My Number” and “Booka Shade’s “Charlotte.” This time around, they took Nirvana’s 1991 classic “Something in the Way” in for a spin alongside a string quartet—and they nailed it. The original track appeared on the fabled rock band’s second studio album, Nevermind, a record etched in the memories of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s James Hunt. “In my childhood, this band was everywhere,” Hunt, the band’s drummer, told triple J. “[Neve...

This Company Is Turning the “DNA” of Music Into Medicine

There’s good reason to believe the emerging field of music therapy is a multi-billion dollar industry in-waiting. Prior studies on music exposure has shown the art form demonstrates the benefit of reducing anxiety by up to 44%, and pain reduction by 29%.  Knowing those statistics, there’s certainly good reason to believe music is medicine. But in this case, it’s more than a cliché. MediMusic is prescribing music to help remediate a variety of everyday and chronic ailments. “MediMusic has managed to digitally fingerprint the DNA of music so we can prescribe the right songs as medicine to ease anxiety and stress,” said Gary Jones, Co-Founder and CEO of M...

Boo Hoo, Elon Musk Is No Longer World’s Richest Man

If it felt like Elon Musk spent the last year lighting his fortune on fire, well, Bloomberg agrees, reporting that Tesla’s plummeting stock price has cost Musk so much money that he is no longer the world’s richest man. At his less-controversial apex, Musk, 51, was worth about $340 billion, but in 2022 he’s lost more than $100 billion in Tesla stock alone, and that’s before you count his massive overpay for Twitter. Now, he’s down to (only!) $168.5 billion, which is still good enough for second on the world wealth rankings. Try not to cry for him too hard. Taking over No. 1 with a fortune of $172.9 billion is Bernard Arnault. The 73-year-old owes his wealth to a 48% stake in the luxury brand LVMH, which is usually spelled out in the opposite order of its initials a...

Ozzy Osbourne Unsure About Touring Again: “I Just Can’t Fucking Walk Much Now”

Ozzy Osbourne hasn’t toured since various injuries and ailments forced him off the road beginning in late 2018. While he currently has an oft-postponed UK/European tour on the books for Spring 2023, the metal legend isn’t sure if he’ll be able to honor those dates, saying, “I just can’t fucking walk much now.” It’s been a rough four years for Osbourne, who contracted a staph infection in fall 2018; caught pneumonia in early 2019, at which time he suffered a serious fall at his home that dislodged previously-inserted metal rods in his back; and revealed an ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease in early 2020. In June of this year, he underwent a major neck surgery that his wife Sharon stated would “determine the rest of his life.” While he has been able to release two well-received albums ...
