The Weeknd has released an expanded version of his new album. Dawn FM (Alternate World) is out today, January 12, and offers listeners two new songs. The Weeknd tapped Swedish House Mafia for a remixed version of the album’s second single “Sacrifice.” The artist first collaborated with the Swedish supergroup in October on the song “Moth To A Flame” off of their forthcoming LP Paradise Again. The song now also listed on the Dawn FM (Alternate World) tracklist. The reworked “Sacrifice” makes greater use of its sampling of Alicia Myers’ 1981 single “I Want to Thank You” and arrived with a music video that showcased a voguing dance sequence. London-based jazz musician Ben Marc—the alias of Neil Charles—has announced his debut solo LP Glass Effect with a new song called “Mustard.” The album is due out this spring via Innovative Leisure. Check out “Mustard” below. Marc says Glass Effect was influenced by Four Tet, Bonobo, Machinedrum, DJ Shadow, Madlib, and his time in the nightclubs of Ibiza. He released the album’s first two singles “Give Me Time” and “Way We Are” last year. Marc released the Breathe Suite EP in December. Marc has previously performed with Sun Ra Arkestra and the Ethiopian Jazz pioneer Mulatu Astatke. He also worked on Jonny Greenwood’s score for the Paul Thomas Anderson film The Master. Kid Cudi is set to star in the new A24-distributed horror movie X. Directed by Ti West (V/H/S, The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers), the movie stars Cudi, Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, and Brittany Snow. Today, the film’s first trailer has been released. He notably appeared alongside Ariana Grande in Don’t Look Up, and the duo recorded a new song for the movie. He also appeared in the third film in the Bill & Ted franchise as himself. Today (January 12), the Sundance Film Festival announced a new slate of films to premiere during its 2022 season. Among them is the first act of Phoenix Rising, a two-part documentary about the life and career of Evan Rachel Wood, that will also chronicle the abuse allegations she made against Marilyn Manson last year. According to a report by Variety, the film (directed by Oscar-nominated documentarian Amy Berg) has been in the making for over two years. Following its Sundance premiere, both parts of the film will air on HBO “in the coming months,” as Variety points out (a release date was not revealed). Finnish rock band THE RASMUS has entered Finland’s annual Eurovision selection contest, “Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu” (UMK; The New Music Competition). The band has also announced the release of its Eurovision entry bid and new single, “Jezebel”, which will be available on January 17, 2022 via Playground Music. “Jezebel” was co-written and produced by Desmond Child, who collaborated with THE RASMUS on their seventh studio album “Black Roses”.
