BUDGIE’s BURKE SHELLEY Dies At 71

Vocalist/bassist Burke Shelley of legendary Welsh rockers BUDGIE has died at the age of 71. The news of his passing was shared earlier today by his daughter Ela. She wrote on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my father, John Burke Shelley. He passed away this evening in his sleep at Heath Hospital in Cardiff, his birth town. He was 71 years old. Please respect the family during this time. “With love, His four children: Ela, Osian, Dimitri and Nathaniel.” Two years ago, Shelley said that he was suffering from aortic aneurysm — a dangerous and abnormal swelling of the main artery that supplies blood to the body. Mtume was behind the massive “Juicy Fruit” hit, famously sampled by The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy” smash. As confirmed by Pitchfork, Mtume, who recently celebrated his birthday according to an Instagram post, passed over the weekend but the reason was not disclosed. Via Twitter, Lisa Lucas, the daughter of Mtume’s partner Reggie Lucas, took to social media to comment on the loss of the man she referred to as an uncle. The BPM Festival Costa Rica Postpones 2022 Event

Two days before it was scheduled to begin, organizers of The BPM Festival Costa Rica have postponed the event. The festival had been scheduled to take place in the beach town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica from Jan. 12-18, 2022. Organizers have not yet published new dates. “After more than a year of planning and looking forward to welcoming you to our 15th anniversary edition, we sympathize with your sense of disappointment and frustration and are beyond heartbroken to share this news with you,” BPM organizers wrote in a statement. This postponement is due to new country-wide restrictions announced today (Jan. 10) that ban mass gatherings, among other regulations. These regulations will extend from Jan. 11-23. With From A Bird’s Eye View set to release on January 14, Cordae has unveiled the album’s official tracklist and the selection of producers, features and guest vocalists. Spiritualized have shared a new song, “Crazy,” from their forthcoming LP Everything Was Beautiful. The track, which features backing vocals from outlaw country singer Nikki Lane, comes with a collage video directed by the band’s J Spaceman (aka Jason Pierce). The LP features contributions from Gunna, Lil Wayne, Lil Durk, Freddie Gibbs, Nas, Eminem, Roddy Ricch, Stevie Wonder, and more. Check out the video for “Sinister” (ft.
