The Tragedy of Macbeth, Joel Coen’s new Shakespeare adaptation starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand, premieres on Apple TV+ on January 14th. In anticipation, a new trailer has been revealed and can be seen below. Written and directed by Coen, The Tragedy of Macbeth was shot entirely on sound stages and in black-and-white. The cast also includes Corey Hawkins, Moses Ingram, and Ralph Ineson. The A24 and IFC production initially premiered at the 2021 New York Film Festival in September before receiving a limited theatrical screening over Christmas. Now that it’s 2022, conventional statues just won’t cut it anymore. Case in point: a new statue of LL Cool J that just went up in the rapper’s native Queens, New York comes complete with a solar-powered audio setup that plays his music. The LL statue, which resides in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, was built by Sherwin Banfield, the Queens-raised sculptor who previously memorialized Phife Dawg, Prodigy, Jam Master Jay at the Queens Public Library back in 2019. LL’s bronze bust — decked out with his trademark ’90s bucket hat and chain, naturally — sits upon a gold-colored boombox thats powered by the sun. A new music video for Drakeo the Ruler’s song “Ain’t That the Truth” has been released, weeks after the rapper was tragically killed in Los Angeles. The single, which features Ralfy the Plug, is the title track of Drakeo’s 2021 studio album. Watch the Spingen Productions-helmed visual below. On December 18, Drakeo the Ruler was stabbed during an altercation that broke out backstage at Once Upon a Time in LA Fest, which was being held at Banc of California Stadium in Exposition Park.
