Former WHITE LION frontman Mike Tramp will release a new single, “You Only Get To Do It Once”, on January 7. It is described in a press release as “an honest, stripped-down rock song with all elements that make Tramp such a recognized and loved artist — an autobiographic reflection with a disarming chord progression and a melody that will haunt you for days.” Tramp stated about the track: “It seems that all I do these days, is look in the review mirror to see where I’ve been and what I’ve done. When time almost stand still, compared to how it used to move too fast. I now look for things that made me happy and the reason why they did. Being a totally nostalgia freak and one who doesn’t want to let go of the good times and the real times, when ...
MÖTÖRHEAD‘s longtime tour manager Eddie Rocha and production assistant Emma Cederblad recently paid tribute to the band’s iconic leader Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister by getting MÖTÖRHEAD tattoos on their legs. A short video documenting the process — during which tattoo artist Stina Nyman of Eyescreamtattoo.com apparently blended some of Lemmy‘s ashes with the tattoo ink — can be seen below. A number of Lemmy‘s close personal friends and associates received bullet casings filled with his ashes after his death, including JUDAS PRIEST‘s Rob Halford, UGLY KID JOE singer Whitfield Crane and Doro Pesch. Lemmy died exactly six years ago — on December 28, 2015 — at the age of 70 shortly after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer. He had dealt with sev...
In a new interview with Bass Musician Magazine, former FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH bassist Matt Snell discussed his involvement in KILL DEVIL HILL, the band that once featured former PANTERA bassist Rex Brown and legendary drummer Vinny Appice. “We did a record during 2020. And it’s done,” he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “There’s a couple of little tweaks left, so we’re working on the release plan for that. [Producer] Chris Collier actually did that record. He got a little bit busy doing the [new] KORN record, so we got put back for a couple of weeks, but he’s finishing it up right now. So the record is amazing; it sounds actually fantastic. I’m super excited about it.” Regarding how he came to play bass for KILL DEVIL HILL, M...
RATING: 9/10 It may only be those who sleep with an HM-2 pedal under their pillow who noticed, but WOMBBATH delivered one of the all-time great comeback records with “Downfall Rising” in 2015. A mere six years later, the Swedish death metal veterans are delivering their fifth post-return full-length, and it is by far the most ambitious and adventurous record to ever bear the band’s name. Given that they released two albums in 2020 (“Choirs of the Fallen” and “Tales of Madness”), it seems that WOMBBATH have hit a rich vein of inspiration and are now going for broke, both in terms of quality and quantity. That rare beast, the death metal double album, “Agma” is no old-school nostalgia-fest, instead, this is what happens when a classic sou...
In 2008, DMX recorded a gospel album that was never released as the late rapper intended. The double album, titled Walk With Me Now And You’ll Fly With Me Later, was recorded in the late 2000s when DMX was living in Arizona. While the mixtape was never released, half of the record was supposed to feature hip-hop tracks while the other would be made up of gospel titles. Rolling Stone recently reported that the majority of the gospel songs on the album were actually recorded in one night. Producer Divine Bars told the publication that it was difficult trying to get DMX to record the album. Instead, DMX would go to the bathroom and smoke crack before getting Gallo to play the late rapper a beat. He was then able to immediately write the song in one take before repeating the process again. In ...
