It’s no secret that the music and culture of the ’70s are big inspirations for Harry Styles. Naturally, the pop star paid tribute to Christine McVie, who died earlier this week at 79, with a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Songbird” at his show in Santiago, Chile last night. “Songbird” was one of the songs written and sung solely by McVie on Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 masterpiece Rumours. Styles doesn’t often play instruments during his shows, but he stayed faithful to the original recording by playing acoustic guitar, backed by a piano. Elton John to Headline Glastonbury in 2023
With Elton John slated to wrap up his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour next summer, the Rocket Man has been announced as the headliner for Glastonbury 2023. It will mark his last ever UK show and second time appearing at the festival. John will close out Glastonbury with his performance at the Pyramid Stage on Sunday, June 25th. “As the end of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour comes into view, there is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans,” John said in a statement. “They have been beyond brilliant, and have supported me through all the highs and lows of my career… I can’t wait to embrace the spirit of the greatest festival in the world.” In late November, John played his final North American live concert at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The frantic electronic duo of Dylan Brady and Laura Les, also known as 100 gecs, has returned a little over two years after the release of their debut LP, 1,000 gecs. The Los Angeles-based hyperpop group has announced the forthcoming release of their sophomore effort, the aptly-titled 10,000 gecs. The new album will arrive next year on March 17, dropping via Dog Show Records and Atlantic Records. The project will contain the previously-released bangers “mememe” and “Doritos & Fritos,” alongside new singles. Today, Björk released the music video for “Sorrowful Soil” from her new album, Fossora. The song serves as a eulogy to the Icelandic singer’s late mother and the video brings it to life against a raging volcano. Directed by Viðar Logi, the video is shot with an interesting oval-shaped frame – warping what the viewer can see of the singer and her surrounding environment. Toby Keith Gives Promising Update After Stomach Cancer Battle: ‘We’ll Look at Something Good in the Future’
Toby Keith is opening up about his battle with stomach cancer in a new interview with the CMT Hot 20 Countdown. The 61-year-old country legend revealed earlier this summer that he was taking a break from music to undergo chemotherapy, radiation and surgery after getting a stomach cancer diagnosis in the fall of 2021. “I’m thinkin’ about getting back in fighting shape,” Keith said in a preview of the interview posted earlier this week. “I need a little bit of time to rest up, heal up… it’s pretty debilitating to have to go through all that. Try using some of your favorite songs on the short-form video app Triller, and you’ll be hard pressed to find what you’re looking for. On Thursday, the music catalogs for Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music and Merlin — which provides digital licensing to many top independent labels and distributors — were removed from the platform. A Triller spokesperson says the platform is “reassessing each of our label deals as they come due as our catalogue music usage is a small fraction of our overall business with creators. “Some labels are more used than others and if we can make financial arrangements which make sense for the platform, on a label by label basis, we will. Neil Young has released the 50th anniversary deluxe reissue of his fourth solo album, Harvest, via Reprise Records. Stream it below via Apple Music. The 3xLP or 3xCD boxset features the Canadian-American singer-songwriter’s signature 1972 album along with three studio outtakes; a previously unreleased BBC performance from February 23rd, 1971; and a documentary called Harvest Time, which compiles two hours of behind-the-scenes material filmed in 1971 between Young’s “Harvest Barn” recording sessions in Northern California and later trips to Nashville and London.
