Exactly one month ahead of Super Bowl LVII, Halftime Show headliner Rihanna released the first official trailer for her hotly-anticipated set, which is notably the first to be sponsored by Apple Music. In the visual, shared on the Barbadian singer-songwriter’s social media accounts, Rihanna appears wearing a dramatic fur coat in the shadows of a spotlight, as cut-together soundbites from angry broadcasters and news reporters detail RiRi’s absence from the spotlight and long-awaited return. Amidst all the noise, Rihanna appears under the bright lights and tells the world to “shush” with one finger over her mouth, before a snippet of her hit Anti track “Needed Me” closes the clip. Stitched together, the many media voices say, “It’s been 2,190 days… It’s been over six years… Rihanna is w...
Offset has teamed up with Hit-Boy for a new single called “2 LIVE.” Debuting as part of Hit-Boy’s Mixed & Mastered collaboration with Patrón, the track hears the rapper and producer drop bars about balling out on a night in Atlanta. “She get crazy, I blew eighty / We got faded, I woke up, bought her Mercedes,” Offset raps. “Racks on top of the table, she got Birkins, alligators / She was a waiter, but she left you for my paper.” “2 LIVE” is the first song Offset has released following the tragic death of his cousin and Migos collaborator Takeoff. His last album, Father of 4, dropped in 2019. Hit-Boy, meanwhile, recently joined forces with Nas for November’s King’s Disease III. He also produced a standout track on Beyoncé’s Renaissance, “THIQUE.” Stream Offset and Hit-Boy’s new song “2 ...

Later this month, Green Day will release Nimrod 25 – 25th Anniversary Edition, a retrospective box set celebrating their 1997 album that includes previously unreleased demos and a live set from the era. Today, the band has shared one of those demos, a cover of Elvis Costello’s 1977 ballad “Alison.” In “Alison (Demo),” Green Day go all in on Elvis Costello’s gentle crooning. The percussion in the original lends the track a soft rock vibe, but in the punk band’s cover, Billie Joe Armstrong’s unmistakable voice sits alone atop only a muted guitar, emphasizing the sweetness of Costello’s tale of unrequited love. Check it out below. The Green Day frontman notably performed “Alison” alongside Elvis Costello during a 2006 taping of the VH1 Classic series Decades Rock Live. Advertisement Rela...
Surprise! Less than a year after their latest album A Bit of Previous, Belle and Sebastian return today with another new full-length called Late Developers. Listen to it in full below via Bandcamp. Clocking in at 11 songs, Late Developers was recorded during the same sessions as A Bit of Previous. But as punk rocker and B&S superfan Jeff Rosenstock writes in the album’s liner notes, Late Developers “doesn’t feel like a collection of lesser-than songs that weren’t good enough to go on the ‘real’ record,” instead evoking the freedom and proficiency of skilled painters on “a jumbo-sized canvas.” Lead single “I Don’t Know What You See In Me” puts that metaphor into effect, swapping out Belle and Sebastian’s typical indie-pop jangle for a heavy dose of ’80s synth-po...

Måneskin have enlisted the chops of Tom Morello for their new single “Gossip.” It’s the latest taste of the Italian rockers’ upcoming album, Rush! “Gossip” continues Måneskin’s brand of catchy danceable rock, but adds some signature distorted guitar sections from the Rage Against the Machine axeman. After a tease of his playing at the 1:09 mark, Morello returns at 2:17 with a more emphatic solo. Lyrically, vocalist Damiano David invites us to Los Angeles, the “city of lies” where “you can be a movie star” and “put plastic on your face.” On the chorus, he sings, “Sip the gossip, drink ’til you choke/ Sip the gossip, burn down your throat/ You’re not iconic, you are just like them all/ Don’t act like you don’t know.” Check out “Gossip” below. The BRIT Awards is receiving backlash after unsuccessfully recognizing a single woman in the Artist of the Year category. All the BRIT nominees have now been announced ahead of the forthcoming ceremony on January 12 – with the organization having abandoned gendered categories for the second consecutive year. For the top prize for this year — that celebrates the best in UK music — the only nominees are men: with Central Cee, Fred again.., George Ezra, Harry Styles, and Stormzy all up for the award. The shortlist represents a big step backwards, after Adele won the award in the gender-neutral category in 2022.
