Lil Nas X Gets a Freakishly Accurate Wax Figure at Madame Tussauds

Lil Nas X took his horse to Madame Tussauds: The rapper has been immortalized with a hyper-realistic, life-size sculpture of himself at the Hollywood branch of the iconic wax museum. The wax figure of Lil Nas X is donning a replication of the gold Versace suit armor he wore at the 2021 Met Gala, along with the jewelry and manicure he sported at the event. The cherry on top is a copy of his diamond grill, making Lil Nas X the first sculpture in Madame Tussauds history to wear one. Unlike poor Rihanna, the wax Lil Nas X is so faithful to the real thing that it’s almost hard to distinguish the two on first glance. “never thought i would get the pleasure of meeting myself,” Lil Nas X wrote on Instagram. “the sexual tension was too much to bare. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story Shines Thanks to a Deadpan Daniel Radcliffe: Review

This review is part of our coverage of the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. The Pitch: Based on the 100% true story of comedian/musician/renegade polka king’s rapid rise to superstardom, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is an “unflinching” look at “Weird” Al Yankovic’s chaotic life. From his childhood as a closeted accordion player, to his brief flirtation with the hot underground polka scene, to his excessive rock and roll lifestyle to his artistic struggles, to his tumultuous romance for the ages with Madonna, and his deadly feud with a legendary drug lord, writer/director Eric Appel and co-writer Al Yankovic pull no punches. This is as real and serious as it gets. Related Video Generic Blues: A fake biopic of “Weird” Al Yankovic is most likely a foolproof formula. How wrong can you...

A Viral Craigslist Ad Is “Looking for Gay Man” to Accompany Author’s Wife at Raves

When it comes to raving, if you don’t share the same interest as your significant other, the late nights spent on the dancefloor may quickly become a drag. One Craigslist user found that out the hard way and decided they’ve had enough of trying to keep up. The author explains their wife is always interested in going out to attend electronic music events in Brooklyn and turned to the public to hire a chaperone for her.  The author explains his wife typically likes to go out on the weekends, and the compensation they’re offering is certainly nothing to sneeze at: $30 an hour, and that’s on top of having your event tickets fully paid for. The opportunity, which was captured via screenshot by nightlife producer Terence Edgerson and shared on Instagram, so...

Submission to John Legend’s TikTok Challenge Sparks Rumors of Collaboration With Black Coffee

TikTok has already proven to be fertile ground for discovering new talent, and one songwriter is well on his way to a potential super-collaboration after a recent post on the platform. It all started when John Legend issued an open verse challenge on TikTok, sharing lyrics for a song he’s workshopping called “Nervous” and encouraging his followers to follow up his hook with a verse of their own.  One promising South African songwriter, Mthandazo Gatya, responded to the challenge. And he may have dramatically shifted the trajectory of his career. The flow of the Xhosa-speaking artist’s verse wasn’t lost on Legend, nor Black Coffee, who was later tagged into the interaction on Twitter. Given Gatya’s affinity for house music with hi...

IMANU Ushers In a Creative Reset With Stunning Debut Album, “Unfold”

Few artists would opt to switch up their process ahead of their debut album, but IMANU‘s creative reset is paying dividends. IMANU’s album has been in the making for some time as he began writing it just a few months into the pandemic. “I had to find a way out of the boring routine,” explained on Twitter. “I stayed with my parents for a few months, occupying their spare attic room and bought a new laptop and pair of headphones, just trying to find new ways to be productive. This fresh start brought me a creativity which enabled me to write music like i had never done before…” That decision would go on to have tremendous downstream impacts. Processing Unfold now in full, the effort is an all-encompassing, multi-genre project that particula...
