A Reddit meme meets a hedge fund in the new trailer for Eat the Rich: The GameStop Saga. The three-part docuseries premiers on Netflix September 28th. “The pandemic hit. All these people were all of sudden interested in making money on the stock market,” one talking head says to open the trailer. We hear about GameStop, a “dying brick and mortar store,” and the hedge funds that shorted it, expecting it to fail. Then the Reddit board /r/WallStreetBets heard about the squeeze and decided to bet the other way. “The losses for short-sellers were in the tens of billions of dollars,” another person says. Director Theo Love talks to a colorful cast of Redditors, including a man showing far too much chest hair who calls Elon Musk, “The big daddy.” Advertisement Related Video In...
The Pitch: Since 2016, FX’s Atlanta has proven to audiences that it has no intentions of playing by any rules. Created by and starring multi-hyphenated talent Donald Glover, the story about a broke Ivy League dropout who manages his cousin’s burgeoning rap career while their wacky and aimless friend tags along does not seem like it would become one of television’s most imaginative, subversive, and thought-provoking shows of all time. After four seasons of following Earn, Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (Lakeith Stanfield), and Earn’s baby’s momma Van (Zazie Beetz), however, that’s exactly what Atlanta has become — and its farewell season is no different. In the fourth and final season of Atlanta, the characters have all fully evolved from the financially unstable and emotionally lost...

Rina Sawayama has released her sophomore studio album. Hold the Girl, the pop artist’s long-awaited follow-up to 2020’s SAWAYAMA, is out now via Dirty Hit. Like SAWAYAMA, Hold the Girl is an amalgam of genres spanning grunge, country, EDM, and more, tied together with the Japanese-British artist’s keen ear for pop. The record comprises 13 tracks, a few of which Sawayama shared as singles: The belt-worthy title track, the rock-tinged “Catch Me in the Air,” the power ballad “Phantom,” and the rodeo banger “This Hell” — the latter of which we crowned Song of the Week. In her album review, Mary Siroky writes: “What Sawayama has successfully captured with Hold the Girl is the healing power of pop music, and the catharsis that can come just as easily with an arena-ready...
