One of Avicii‘s favorite locations in Stockholm has installed a new memorial sculpture in the late dance music icon’s memory. The Humlegården park is now the home of “Standing Waves,” a sculpture crafted by Adèle Essle Zeiss and Liva Isakson Lundin that is activated with wind energy. The sculpture consists of three metal pylons, each topped with uniquely shaped tubes and sheet metal sails designed to catch and spin with the whistling winds. You Can Now Paint With Music Thanks to This Artist’s Brilliant Invention
What if, instead of just putting paint on a canvas, you could hear its colors? Thanks to musician Camry Ivory, you can now generate music by painting with her invention, the Coloratura, which she calls a “system of musical paintbrushes.” Ivory started designing the Coloratura in 2015 as a one-time performance piece for downtown Kansas City’s Art in the Loop Series, reports KCUR-FM. Since then, she’s been improving the instrument as a way to literally create sound with paint. Featuring an easel with a metal canvas, 12 brushes for each note and pots of paint, the Coloratura connects each brush using wires to a circuit board, which sends a signal to her computer and music production software to create different notes. Thursday Announce Full Collapse Box Set and Tour
Thursday have announced a new box set reissue of their 2001 album Full Collapse. The new edition of 10″ LPs, packaged with a photo book by Nathaniel Shannon collecting images of the band in 2001 and 2002. It’s out October 28 via Craft Recordings. They’ve also announced a handful of tour dates where they’ll play Full Collapse in its entirety. See those below.
