In the wake of the recent extension of a ban on music festivals in the Netherlands, over 450 festival organizers have planned a protest. After months of calling for clarity from the Dutch government, it seems their patience is wearing thin as they reportedly still have not received any guidance from officials about a timeline to host multi-day events. The catalyst was the demise of Tomorrowland, whose organizers were led on for months after the government indicated a favorable outlook for the festival’s 2021 edition. However, the iconic dance music fest was forced to cancel after its request for an event permit was abruptly denied by officials. ID&T, the nation’s largest festival production entity, recently took the Dutch government to court with the hopes of rece...
On September 3rd and 4th, A State Of Trance was scheduled to celebrate its landmark ASOT1000 event in the Netherlands, but due to ongoing pandemic restrictions around large events, it has been postponed until February 2022. After Prime Minister Mark Rutte pushed the restriction of large scale events until at least September 20th, ASOT1000 promoter ALDA had no choice but to pull the plug. In the Dutch government’s recent moves to block festivals such as Tomorrowland from taking place, they have cited both size and scope as a concern. In the case of ASOT1000, the sold-out event is expected to host 55,000 concert goers, the majority of whom would be traveling from abroad. In fact, the scope of attendees includes travelers from over 100 different countries. The current limitations ...
Planning a wedding is ambitious enough. Now imagine a wedding crossed with a camping music festival. That is precisely what Jamon Deaver and Joey Lawton were able to pull off in Berea, Kentucky. The couple held their event, titled Wonder Woods, on a 40-acre plot owned by Deaver’s family. At first, they expected the idea would be a hard sell. Preparing for pushback, the couple prepared by crafting a pitch deck and formal presentation for Deaver’s family, but in the end they didn’t hesitate to go along with it. “They were 100 percent in from the first second,” Deaver recalled. A story published by the The New York Times notes the couple brought 230 guests to the property and 125 of them camped for two nights. Together, they built a stage and DJ booth ...

The scourge of Fyre Festival lives on. A north London music festival called Metrofest has gone viral after being dubbed “Britain’s Fyre Festival.” The event’s organizers had promoted the “first ever festival dedicated to R&B and Hip Hop culture” which was to showcase “some of the scene’s most iconic figures.” However, reports of headliners bailing at the last minute and attendees wading around in mud have effectively besmirched the event, which took place on Sunday, August 8th. According to Daily Mail, many of the event’s 15,000 attendees, who had paid up to £95 (around $111 USD) for a pass, were left waiting in the rain for hours. Legions of those fans are now requesting refunds after Mya, Eve, Blackstreet and Tony ...

One of the best nights of IMANU‘s promising young career quickly devolved into one that ended with him in a hospital bed. The budding bass music producer took the stage over the weekend at Let It Roll, a Czech music festival in the Milovice Airport complex. He appeared alongside a bevy of iconic drum & bass artists, such as A.M.C, Netsky, NOISIΛ, and a collaborative performance by Mefjus and Camo & Krooked. The fest was eventually hit with inclement weather, as heavy winds and rain walloped the stage and led to a severe thunderstorm, according to NOISIΛ’s Thys. He tweeted yesterday that an artist “fell through the stage and was picked up by ambulance,” adding that he was okay in the aftermath of the incident. IMANU eventually shared an I...

After two years, HARD Summer brought over 160,000 ravers back together for a weekend full of electronic music and long-awaited fun. With over six stages, dazzling light displays, and a giant glowing ferris wheel, the festival felt like a smaller EDC. Fans gathered like moths to the bright and vibrant lights, and the energy was palpable after over a year in isolation for most. San Bernardino temperatures hovered around 100°, but thankfully Insomniac provided copious free water stations, shady, grassy areas and misting stations for their festival-goers to cool down. The hydrating drink of the weekend was Liquid Death. Contrary to its aggressive name, it was just water, the idea being to “murder your thirst” and save the earth with their plastic-free recyclable cans. Stages: Pyrotechnics...
