Space Yacht Releases Debut Bass Music Compilation, “Big Bass Ting Vol. 1”

Consistently building a name for itself in the world of house music over the years, event promoter and newly formed record imprint Space Yacht has recently begun to branch beyond that genre and into the world of bass music. Today, Space Yacht released its first bass compilation, and it’s a rowdy one. Space Yacht’s Big Bass Ting Vol. 1 delivers big sounds in many different facets of bass music, including riddim, tearout dubstep, and leftfield bass. With ten fresh tracks from some impressive rising talent, Big Bass Ting Vol. 1 is a massive foray into the low end of the frequency spectrum for the label. NAZAAR serves up a relentless banger called “Kandahar” to kick things off, and it doesn’t slow down from there. Blurrd Vzn’s “Money Bag̶...

Skrillex and Poo Bear Reunite for Stunning Single, “The Day You Left”: Listen

Reunited and it feels so good. Skrillex and Poo Bear, who famously linked up in summer 2017 for their collaborative hit “Would You Ever,” have reunited for a stunning new song called “The Day You Left.” The single finds Poo Bear leading the charge with Skrillex on the production. “The Day You Left” is a melancholic slice of future R&B from the two longtime collaborators and friends. With hypnotic vocal chops that flutter over a resounding low end, the track sounds like a more tame twist on Skrillex’s “Mumbai Power,” his summer 2019 festival hit released alongside Beam. Listen to the new track below. “Would You Ever” went on to become an international hit after its release in July 2017. Skrillex and Poo Bear also wor...

Carl Cox Reimagines Geraldine Hunt’s 1980 Disco Classic, “Can’t Fake The Feeling”

Unidisc Records is one of Canada’s largest independent record labels. Having been in the industry since 1977, they’ve established an extensive collection of music over the years while continuously learning how to evolve.  Earlier this year Unidisc launched a “Reimagining Campaign,” enlisting a number of dance music luminaries to modernize the imprint’s timeless classics. Francis Cucuzzella—the son of founder George Cucuzzella—came up with the idea as a way to “pay homage to the artists who shaped dance music and those spreading it today globally.” Arguably the greatest producers in the world have been tapped in to reimagine classic hits from Unidisc’s back catalog. So far the campaign has included show-stopping remixes from Claptone,...

SM1LO and FARRUGGIO Team Up for Anthemic House Bop “Blow My Horn”

Blossoming dance music duo SM1LO have teamed up with FARRUGGIO for “Blow My Horn,” a high-flying house tune fit for the mainstage. A singalong banger brimming with big room house energy, the track begins with catchy ad-libs that layer atop an earworm of a melody, inviting listeners to hum along. Those chants build and eventually culminate in an anthemic drop, which features stentorian brass shots that reverberate through the arrangement with ferocity. The choice to use the chants was inspired by The Wolf of Wall Street, according to SM1LO, who wanted to channel the chest-thumping nature of Matthew McConaughey’s brazen character in the film. Shrewd sound design techniques bring “Blow My Horn” further into anthem territory. SM1LO and FARRUGGIO opt to employ cowb...

Marshmello’s New Album is Bangers Galore—Listen to “Shockwave” Now

After months of teasing, Marshmello has finally released Shockwave, a 12-track masterstroke channeling the producer’s long-lost electronic roots. The record kicks off with the spellbinding “Fairytale,” a brooding beat that eventually culminates in a thick melodic trap drop with booming hip-hop 808s. The tongue-in-cheek “Supernovacane” follows, in which the polarizing producer tips his helmet to his haters with a flippant vocal intro. “Marshmello is the most overrated electronic music artist by the way, ever to exist, of all-time,” whines an uncredited blowhard. “It’s so mediocre. To have it become so popular makes no sense.” One of the album’s most anticipated cuts, “Jiggle It,” delivers thank...

Watch the Kaleidoscopic Music Video for Calvin Harris and Tom Grennan’s “By Your Side”

The song of the summer is poised to continue its domination after Calvin Harris and Tom Grennan dropped the official music video for “By Your Side.” “By Your Side” arrived just one week ago and immediately became entrenched as the song of summer 2021. Directed by Emil Nava, the kaleidoscopic music video is akin to pineapples and Malibu sunrises, a bubbly audiovisual project that ties in perfectly with the sun-kissed tune. A radiant Grennan shines here, dancing along with the mirthful buoyancy that originally inspired Harris to recruit him for the song’s topline. “The first thing is I liked [Grennan’s] voice a lot,” Harris told Zane Lowe of Apple Music 1 in a recent interview. “I started following him on Ins...

Skrillex Just Leaked His Own Song on Reddit—Listen to “Supersonic (My Existence)”

Fans of Skrillex are geeking out after the dubstep legend leaked a new song on Reddit. Fans were able to listen to “Supersonic (My Existence)” before it officially appeared on streaming platforms thanks to a serendipitous leak by Skrillex himself on the popular r/skrillex subreddit. Prior to its unveiling, the track—a collab with josh pan, Dylan Brady of 100 gecs, and fabled electronic group Noisia—had endured as one of the most anticipated unreleased cuts of the Skrillex mythos. Back in 2019 Noisia appeared at New Zealand’s Northern Bass festival, where they debuted the song before low-quality audio rips began to circulate on the web. At the time it was known simply as “Supersonic” and functioned as a remix of pan and Brady’s song of the same name, whic...

The budding dance music tandem are pouring fuel on a big 2020 that saw them j...
