Nicky Romero and Afrojack are resetting the clock with their first original collaborative track.  Last week, the landmark 10th edition of Amsterdam’s AMF Music Festival saw performances from a myriad of dance music icons, including the two progressive house titans, who didn’t hesitate to hit rewind.  Opening up their explosive B2B set, the two evoked immediate feelings of nostalgia and whisked the audience down memory lane with an unreleased record tailor-made for the golden era of big room. The festival-ready smash, “Back To Where We Started,” harkens back to influences shaping some of the artists’ earliest hit records. Kaskade is swinging to the dark side, and 22-year-old Justus is pushing the pendulum. They’ve joined forces for a new song called “Dance With Me,” which finds Kaskade entering uncharted waters. Tracks like “I Remember” and “Eyes” will stand the test of time, but this time around, he’s endeavoring into the world of hard dance. “Dance With Me” strays from the melodic and oftentimes ambient approach to his music and instead opts for a more heavy-hitting sound. The track kicks off with thumping, techno-inspired kick drums as reverberating stabs swell and slice through the arrangement. Eventually Kaskade and Justus unleash an ominous drop. At the break, a melancholic pad bleeds into spacey synths, carrying a gritty ...

RayRay and JVNA Team Up for Empowering Melodic Bass Track, “Butterfly”

Self-empowerment is the name on the game on RayRay‘s new single, “Butterfly,” a melodic bass ballad written with fellow Taiwanese producer JVNA. Featuring a slow-burning bassline and sultry, hypnotic vocals, the collab is an ode to their experiences in the music industry as women, as well as the lessons they’ve taught themselves along the way.  Creepy and crawling, otherworldly and unyielding, “Butterfly” builds like lightning on the horizon with minimalistic percussion and sensuous lyricism: “Watch me as I go and take a leap / Try to make the dreams my reality.” Meanwhile, deep bass grows beneath the surface, waiting to overtake you with a thunderous drop. I met Lano Bandz through my friend Wraith, and we immediately had a vibe together. I got Lano to hop in the vocal booth and start freestyling over a fun instrumental I had.”  Fans c...

Foot-tapping percussion and playful melodic elements are effortlessly woven into the track from the start, while a soulful vocal paves the way to the drop.
