Excision’s Subsidia Records Drops Bone-Shattering “Night Vol. 3” Compilation

Excision‘s Subsidia Records is on a roll, delivering back to back compilations that have blown us away. The team has returned and is ready to do it all over again with their next offering, Night Vol. 3. For the uninitiated, Subsidia has broken down their compilations into three series. There is the melodically-focused Dawn, the wonky and weird Dusk, and the unrelentingly-heavy collection, Night.  Volumes one and two of the Night series, which debuted in September and December of last year respectively, hosted a barrage of bass from the likes of YOOKIE, Kompany, JEANIE, TYNAN, and of course Excision. Vol. 3 follows this successful formula and features a combination of heavyweights such as Bear Grillz, Skellism, Monxx, Jessica Audiffred, Fel...

The Funk Hunters and Stickybuds’ “Empire” Gets The Dr. Fresch Treatment

This past October, The Funk Hunters and Stickybuds teamed up for their first-ever collaboration, “Empire.” The release was a huge success, amassing nearly 260,000 plays on Spotify in just a few months. Out today on Westwood Recordings, the once-grimy bass track has received a special treatment from the doctor. Widely known for his “House Call” mix series, the Los Angeles-based artist, Dr. Fresch, was called in to give this mid-tempo masterpiece a tune-up. For this flip, Dr. Fresch chose to revisit his signature style from the G-House era — a deviation from his current hard-hitting fusion of house, hip-hop, and mid-tempo electro. The key elements of a true G-House track include deep bass, percussive beats, and sinister vocals. In this rendition of R...

Detailed on their Instagram story as a blessing in disguise, their original plans to shoot the music video were canceled due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. This forced them to pivot and explore Mammoth for a few days, scouting different locations finally resulting in their exhilarating masterpiece. The dynamic vocals of BabyJake tell a story about the frustrating challenge of working hard to become a better person, yet still feeling off-track.
