Oliver Heldens Previews Official Remix of Iconic Above & Beyond Song “Thing Called Love”

Taking on remix duties for a song as big as Above & Beyond‘s “Thing Called Love” is a daunting task, but Oliver Heldens has pulled it off. The Dutch superstar recently announced an official remix of the iconic trance track featuring Richard Bedford, which will arrive this Friday, January 8th by way of Anjunabeats. The remix is a bit different from what Heldens’ fans are used to. The future house sage opted for more of a trance feel, producing soaring synths and a chugging bassline in what sounds like a riveting rework of the 2011 Group Therapy classic. “It’s a bit different than what you’d expect from me I guess, but I wanted to keep the Trancy vibe of the original alive in this new remix,” Heldens wrote in an announcement sh...

Dillon Francis and Drove Share Preview of Dreamy New STMPD RCRDS Track, “Places”

If there was anyone to kick off the new year with a bang, it’s Dillon Francis. However, contrary to what you might expect from the producer of electrifying bangers like “Shut It Down” and “Another Dimension,” he is going a different route. Instead of kicking the door down and stampeding into 2021 with a signature moombah festival smash, Francis is releasing a dreamy single called “Places” alongside Drove. The track, which is set to drop this Friday, January 8th via Martin Garrix‘s STMPD RCRDS banner, has a bubbly feel akin to the deep house sound Francis has championed as of late. That sound can be heard in his November 2020 remix of Dixie D’Amelio‘s “Be Happy” as well as his own VIP edit of his recent collaboration wi...

Space Wizard Releases Experimental Trap EP On Subtronics’ New Cyclops Recordings Imprint

Space Wizard has busted his way onto the scene via Subtronics‘ new Cyclops Recordings imprint with an aggressively mind-bending EP, The Marble Room. A concise three-track offering, the EP takes listeners down an increasingly experimental bass music path with each passing moment. The producer spent the better part of 2020 hitting us with consistent singles, but his first pass at a long-form project showcases his versatility more than previous efforts.  The EP’s opener, the titular track, sets the stage with ambient textures as sweeping waves of white noise usher in a fierce, grinding bassline. It’s easily Space Wizard’s most aggressive tune on the project, which is followed by the offbeat technological tinkering of “Deactivation Sequence....

The latest banger to arrive on Martin Garrix‘s STMPD RCRDS imprint is “Chemicals,” a sultry house gem courtesy of mysterious three-piece dance music outfit AYOR. “Chemicals” is rife with the gritty house flair that is synonymous with STMPD, a record label that has become a bona fide tastemaker in little time. Fans of brass will gravitate to the track, which features crisp horns that thump with an orchestral flair in the mix. Thick subs also run roughshod through the song’s industrial drops, transporting “Chemicals” to the dusty warehouse rave we all crave in the midst of the pandemic. The enigmatic trio has been on a roll as of late. Earlier in the month of December, they made a splash on Tchami‘s coveted CONFESSION label with a na...
