Camo & Krooked Team Up With Mefjus for Haunting Single “No Tomorrow”

Austrian drum & bass power duo Camo & Krooked wowed audiences in 2020 with their incredible Red Bull Symphonic performance alongside conductor and composer Christian Kolonovits and the Max Steiner Orchestra. Now, the two producers have their sights set on the future with a new EP release.  “No Tomorrow,” a collaboration with Austrian compatriot Mefjus and vocalist Sophie Lindinger, is the first single and the title track of said EP, which is scheduled to be released in January 2021. The trio’s effort is a stunning and intricate work of drum & bass, as expected. Lindinger’s haunting vocal work lines the track perfectly as the snappy percussive elements punch through, and a dark organ-esque synth drones on to carry the me...

Listen to Nicky Romero’s Exclusive EDM.com Playlist to Celebrate 1001Tracklists’ “Top 101 Producers” Rankings

1001Tracklists has just released their 2020 list of the top 101 producers for the year. The list represents artists who have garnered the most DJ support on their tracks in 2020, according to the world’s leading DJ tracklist database. Oliver Heldens took the crown for 2020, gaining the most unique support (that is, many unique DJs playing a multitude of his tracks) between his main project and his HI-LO alias. Clocking in at #11 is Dutch house megastar Nicky Romero, who has teamed up with EDM.com to curate an exclusive Spotify playlist in celebration of the 2020 rankings. You can dive into Romero’s playlist below. Selecting his favorite tracks of the moment, the playlist features a slew of original productions, like his 2020 edit of “Toulouse” and ...

Doctor P Releases Bubbly New Track “Won’t Let Go”

Dubstep pioneer Doctor P just doesn’t seem to slow down, having already released a slew of new originals and remixes in 2020. While many of those songs perfectly reflect the hard and heavy dubstep sound that the seminal bass music producer is known for, his latest is a stunning offering that dives even further into his more melodic side. “Won’t Let Go” is an emotive trip, with heart-wrenching lyrics and vocal melodies that soar above bubbly, 8-bit inspired synths. Without those vocals, the track would almost feel more akin to an arcade game soundtrack, but the perfect balance of the playful synths and sentimental vocal work gives “Won’t Let Go” a unique and distinctive character. Doctor P’s most recent release comes just after his last s...

Doctor P Has Launched a Drum & Bass Side Project, Freaks & Geeks

Doctor P has broken ground on a new drum & bass side project. Teaming up with Phil Desborough of famed dubstep group Roksonix, the bass music pioneer quietly unveiled the new alias, Freaks & Geeks, earlier in the month of October after teasing it on social media. A quick skim of Freaks & Geeks’ Twitter account reveals a five-year gap in tweets, which means that Roksonix’s account was most likely re-skinned to reflect the launch of the newly minted super-duo. Desborough and Doctor P first connected back in 2010 in the offices of the latter’s Circus Records imprint, where Roksonix would go on to release the bulk of their music. Growing up listening to drum & bass, they cite Ed Rush & Optical, Dillinja, and Shy FX as a few of their inspirat...

Listen to Grimes’ Ambient, AI-Powered Electronic Lullaby

Synth-pop icon Grimes is a new mother to X Æ A-Xii (yes, that is the child’s actual name, in case you hadn’t heard) with her husband, billionaire Elon Musk. Of course, every new mother can sympathize with sleepless nights, as an infant can cry for hours at a time, keeping everyone in the house awake. New mothers such as Grimes are no strangers to lullabies, and the eccentric art pop artist has taken things a step further by creating her own in partnership with AI mood music startup Endel Pacific.  The lullaby is an electronic ballad that’s described as a “limited edition sleep soundscape.” Grimes’ vocal work and music form the basis for the song, and the AI elements are then incorporated to adapt the soundscape to many diffe...

Getter Announces “NAPALM” EP Out on Friday

Fans of Getter should dust off their neck braces before Friday. In an early Halloween treat, the bass music heavy-hitter has announced that his new NAPALM EP is officially releasing in two days on Friday, October 30th. Getter recently dropped the curtain on a brand new single called “BAD ACID,” which is presumably included on the forthcoming record. Back in September, Getter, who remains one of the most prolific bass music producers in the scene, teased NAPALM on Twitter, erupting a fever pitch in his avid fanbase by cryptically sharing the news that an unnamed EP would drop “any day now.” He again took to the social platform to formally announce NAPALM earlier this week. Check out the tweet below. That’s it. That’s the tweet. You can...

GRiZ Shares Preview of Soulful, Glitched Out Unreleased Bass Track

Most artists don’t have the ability to hop on social media and send their fanbase into a frenzy by sharing simple previews of new music. GRiZ, however, isn’t most artists. As if releasing a new EP and a full mixtape in the span of one month wasn’t enough, EDM’s de facto Funkmaster General took to Instagram today to tease more new music, sharing a preview of a massive unreleased bass tune. The yet-to-be-named ID strays from the ferocious dubstep flavors of his recent releases, instead boasting uplifting, breezy chord progressions and a soulful vocal refrain of “you’re gonna wanna be high for this, alive for this.” The drop, however, is signature GRiZ with it’s head-bopping cadence and wonky yet groovy bass patches. Check out the preview below, ...

The Knocks Reunite With Foster the People for New Single “All About You”

The summer of 2018 saw The Knocks and Foster the People dominating the charts with their hit single “Ride or Die.” It earned over 100 million streams, was the #1 single on the iTunes Dance chart and spent over 22 weeks on Billboard’s Dance chart. They have now reunited to recreate the magic with a brand new single called “All About You.”  The new track is the second single off their yet-to-be-named third full-length LP. It features the irresistible, feel-good energy that have helped both acts become the renowned artists they are today. It’s the type of track that exudes the effortless cool factor, as Mark Foster‘s voice paired with the production feels as if you are traversing through a kaleidoscopic visualizer.  This year, The ...

Saltee Impresses on Subciety Presents With Drum & Bass Single “Among the Accursed”

Earlier this month, Subciety Presents unveiled the tenth volume of its The Subscription compilation series. The eight-track compilation features stellar drum & bass talent such as Lousy Anna, Stoic, Yung Abner, and more. One of the release’s standouts is Denver-based Saltee‘s dark and driving single, “Among the Accursed.” Drawing its influence and title from Dark Souls, “Among the Accursed” reflects the video game’s themes of the balance between light and dark. Intense reese basses drone along as the drum breaks roll on, perfect for an energizing gaming session. As a series of metallic foes are vanquished, a brief melodic intermission appears until the next set of challengers are encountered. While the drum & bass genre is un...

SWARM Drops Blistering New Single “Heartless”

Never one to shy away from genre conventions, SWARM has dropped a blistering new single called “Heartless.” Combining elements of myriad genres, such as happy hardcore and punk, the rising bass producer succeeds in combining them while simultaneously shattering their boundaries. “Heartless” somehow tightropes the wire between nostalgic and punishing, thanks in part to the stentorian vocal flair of Dani King. Flanked by King’s deeply pensive lyrics about emotional numbness, SWARM delivers a rippling happy hardstyle bomb oozing with the ferocity of a Gammer tune. The production present in the drops of “Heartless” is high-energy and frenetic, representing a stark contrast to the brooding bass flavors of his other 2020 releases, like the...

Glass Petals Breathe New Life Into Justice’s Iconic 2008 Track “Stress”

Songs by legendary electronic duo Justice will remain timeless as long as there is music. While they are of course memorable on their own—and even considered untouchable by many—every now and then their tracks receive a shot of adrenaline by artists looking to breathe new life into them. Blossoming dance music duo Glass Petals is the latest to take on the daunting task of remixing the fabled French tandem. Glass Petals, which is comprised of Johnny Jover and renowned Canadian DJ and producer Felix Cartal, chose to rework Justice’s iconic 2008 track “Stress,” flipping it into a menacing house number. Using the signature, menacing strings of the original, they have delivered a minimalistic yet thumping tech house bomb that belongs in the nightclubs of pr...

Just A Gent Flips Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” Into Ferocious Trap Anthem

With Halloween on the horizon, EDM fans are about to dive into a buffet of massive, spooky music from producers all over the world. It’s a time when artists reach into the shadowy depths of their sound banks to come up with the darkest and most heavy-hitting tracks to commemorate the spooky season. Enter Just A Gent, the prodigious electronic music producer who has just released a monster flip of the late Michael Jackson‘s legendary “Thriller.” There is perhaps no bass music producer more fitting to remix a song of this magnitude due to the Australian wunderkind’s ability to create hypnotic yet punishing sound design. Just A Gent’s approach here is shrewd, as he opts for a brooding intro that uses the frightful foley of Jackson’s original...
