Hearing a handful of talented music producers put their own unique spin on an already exciting song always makes for a solid listening experience. Earlier this year, rising DJ and producer Perfetto teamed up with veteran singer-songwriter John Twilight to unveil “Night Calls Me,” a euphoric dance record that calls back to the anthemic progressive house sound that dominated the electronic music world throughout the early 2010s. Now, Perfetto and Twilight have made their return, breathing new life into “Night Calls Me” by enlisting the talents of four trailblazers for a compelling remix package. While the latter’s stentorian voice and profound songwriting continue to serve as the song’s backbone, each remixer does a stellar job at reworking the original with their own style. A rem...
Capricorns: limitless in resilience, relentless against adversity and steep in emotional depth. TSHA taps into the heart, soul and spirit of her astrological sun sign on her debut album, Capricorn Sun, a swelling stunner out now via Ninja Tune. The 13-track LP is mountain-moving at its best, and consistent in the punch of its hooks. And while the power of TSHA’s free-flowing arrangements may take a moment to hit their stride, her work is of the breed that transforms on the dancefloor. Take the slow-building rapture of “Dancing in the Shadows” (with Clementine Douglas), for example. Ecstasy bubbles under the surface of orchestral chords and Douglas’ impassioned flows. It’s easy to imagine TSHA, who was named one of EDM.com‘s best music producers in ...

Ahead of his first album in over a decade, Carl Cox has shared a mind-bending EP, Welcome to My World. Cox’s Electronic Generations is due out at the end of this month, but he’s given fans plenty to chew on with the new four-track EP. The storied techno and house music producer kicks off Welcome to My World with “World Gone Mad,” a song that leads with an impassioned, declarative vocal sample before opening the flood gates of frenzied acid bass. The pummeling techno riffs continue throughout the effort, marking a somewhat substantial departure in tone from the three previously released tracks. Cox takes his reworks of “See the Sun Rising,” “How It Makes You Feel” and “Speed Trials On Acid”—collabs with Franky Wah, Nicole...
Porter Robinson has a habit of pulling out all the stops to make his own Second Sky Music Festival a memorable experience, and this year will be no exception. Robinson has announced his plans to showcase a new experience for Nurture, his scintillating sophomore album. He took to Twitter to reveal a “reimagined” live show, which will feature a full band at his side. Robinson elaborated that rehearsals for his headlining set, dubbed “”Porter Robinson (Together Live),” with the live band are already well underway. And there’s a familiar face in the ranks that fans of the “Mirror” producer are likely to recognize. YouTube creator keudae, a musician with over 75,000 subscribers, has filmed several popular piano covers of Robi...
Tiësto has teamed up with Black Eyed Peas to produce a modern-day club spin on the group’s ageless hit, “Pump It.” The track was in Tiësto’s regular club rotation over the summer before it officially hit streaming platforms today. He wastes no time and cuts right to the chase, reworking the 2006 hit into a fresh house anthem. “As a fan and supporter of will.i.am’s work and Black Eyed Peas, I couldn’t be more excited to collaborate directly with them on this project,” gushed Tiësto, who said his fans “go absolutely crazy” when he plays the track at clubs and festivals. There’s no mistaking Dick Dale’s’s instantly recognizable “Misirlou” 1962 surf sample, and it’s not long before Tiësto builds the arrangement before an energizi...

Gryffin and Tinashe have teamed up for a scorching dance anthem, “Scandalous.” Gryffin is currently gearing up for two of his largest headlining shows ever at Red Rocks Ampitheater and LA State Historic Park, respectively, as well as preparing for the release of his sophomore album, Alive, the follow-up to 2019’s genre-bending Gravity. Released via Darkroom/Interscope, “Scandalous” is sprinkled with Gryffin’s signature house music sound. Meanwhile, Tinashe’s powerful lyrics grab hold and pull us through an anthemic, edgy arrangement replete with impressive vocal gymnastics. “Show me how you do the things you do / it blows my mind,” she sings as bright arpeggios and pulsing bass subtly rumble underneath. After signing to Monstercat just last month, Filipino electronic music star No Mana has returned with his second single on the label, “Out of the Dark.” The tech-driven track takes us through a mystical, underground odyssey backed by a thumping bassline and ominous, distorted sound design. According to a press release, the tune itself was conceptualized from what No Mana believes angels would sound like. “When I was scrambling for visual assets for this song on my Gravity set, I ran into my GIFs of a skull, chains and biblically accurate angels, to which I thought, ‘If this track had an affinity for something it would be these animations,'” No Mana said in a statement. Take a listen to “Out of the Dark” below. Scroll to Continue...
Coming off of his headlining Lost Lands B2B with Excision, Sullivan King has joined forces with the creator of one of this festival season’s biggest tracks. Two weeks after King and Ray Volpe took the stage at the prehistoric-themed bass music celebration, they’ve returned to keep the party going with a new metalcore record. Released on Monstercat, “The Dead March” fuses both of their distinct sounds to deliver a bone-crunching banger. Heavy-hitting metal drums and sirens introduce “The Dead March” before the arrangement cuts away to focus on King’s isolated guitar riffs. He then lets out a scream and turns the ignition. With a rallying cry, King and Volpe inject the track with screeching synths and roaring bass that build to a thund...
Two of the world’s most innovative producers are introducing a new generation to the sounds of rave music’s past. In the early days of summer, G Jones and EPROM joined forces for their Acid Disk 2 EP. The long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s namesake, the record plunged fans headlong into a spiral of retro, acid-inspired sounds. Now, they’ve put their minds together to create Disk Doctors, a new collaborative mixtape. Featuring loads of distorted synths and ingenious samples, the tape weaves between genres in an ode to 90’s rave music. Spanning 18 tracks, it finds the tandem pulling music from the aforementioned EPs and including songs from Squarepusher, Nevermind, MPIA3 and more. It also features unreleased tunes, a number of which Jones confirmed will eventually...
