Masked DJ and producer Malaa took to Twitter today to drop an absolute bomb of an announcement about a forthcoming remix. The house music maven has hopped on official remix duties for none other than REZZ and Grabbitz, who released their collaborative single “Someone Else” in April 2020 to critical acclaim. In true Malaa fashion, the enigmatic producer was mum on the details, only writing that remix is “COMING SOON.” As of the time of writing, no one from his camp or REZZ and Grabbitz’s teams have divulged a release date. You can check out the announcement below. In the meantime, fans on the edge of their seat can watch the spellbinding official music video for “Someone Else” here. Idris Elba and The Knocks have joined forces to make sure everyone is having “One Fine Day” after releasing the new feel-good house anthem of the summer. The uplifting single comes to us via Elba’s own 7 Wallace imprint and features South London/Tanzanian artist Tiggs Da Author as well as vocals by The Wire actor himself. We’re getting a two for one deal, as Elba also provides a special “IE Edit” alongside the original. The single features a beautiful array of organs, bright piano chords, and an infectious house beat. The optimistic lyrics, most poignant with the use of the Swahili word “tutafika,” meaning “we will make it,” has us feeling as if they can take on the world. It champions a mindset we could all u...
When ZHU and Tinashe released their hit track “ONLY,” it was clear these two had undeniable chemistry in the studio. The enigmatic producer is back to reinforce that point with his new remix of Tinashe’s “Die a Little Bit” featuring South London rapper Ms Banks. This is only ZHU’s second release of the year, both of which include the illustrious R&B songstress. The original already felt as if ZHU was working behind the scenes with that dark, downtempo beat. In the remix, he actually dials up the tempo a bit, adding in dark drops with his signature ominous synth and piano work. The result is the ultimate late-night underground house track to get you moving this weekend. From the looks of the social post below, we could also be re...
Bass music kingpin Dirty Audio has unveiled the latest trap masterstroke to hit his catalog, his filthy new remix of Yellow Claw and Gammer‘s “Here to Stay (feat. Nanami).” Considering the talent of its creators, the original tune was massive in its own right, but Dirty Audio’s flip gives it a more modern hybrid trap feel by replacing its cinematic components with bass music elements. The first drop features downright nasty sound design, with rollicking synth stabs layered over crunchy saw patches. Dirty Audio then switches it up for the second drop, opting for a rave-ready four-on-the-floor rhythm that yearns for the warehouses of pre-pandemic yesteryear before closing out the remix by bringing it all home with a frenetic third and final drop. Along with ...
Russian and Ukranian trio Teddy Killerz have been a staple in the neurofunk and drum & bass scene for quite some time now. Since 2012, the group has been cranking out some of the genre’s heaviest and most imaginative sounds, like their remix of Skrillex and Damian Marley‘s “Make It Bun Dem,” and their debut album Nightmare Street in 2017. The Killerz are now back with an explosive new EP. Panic Attack is a four-song release that packs some serious punch. The title track kicks things off in a big way, with crunchy, grinding reese bass and some swingy drum breaks that give the track a unique groove. The vocal samples deepen the intensity, at one point claiming, “You’re just gonna lose control,” certifying that “Pani...
EDM superstar Flume recently took on one of dance music’s most recognizable anthems ever, serving up a remix of the Eiffel 65 classic “Blue (Da Ba Dee).” After he teased the remix on his Instagram, it was actually posted to Beatport yesterday, July 1st. However, just a short time after going live, Flume’s “Blue” remix seems to have completely vanished from the Internet. Beatport searches offer no help in finding the remix, and links embedded into news stories now produce a 404 error. On YouTube, a slew of imitation remixes have appeared, calling to mind the age of LimeWire track misnomers and misdirecting marketing attempts by bedroom producers. Searches of Flume’s social channels also yield no news of exactly wh...
mau5 fans, rejoice, because deadmau5 and The Neptunes have revealed the official music video for their collaborative hit “Pomegranate.” Serendipitously dropped seemingly out of the blue, the video is a breakneck ride through the kaleidoscopic minds of some of the most gifted artists in contemporary music. The trio of artists thrust the funky, disco-inspired tune into the backdrop of a polychromatic animated fantasy world, making for a trippy audiovisual journey. The visuals look like a marriage between Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Wreck-It Ralph, as deadmau5 races through iridescent, intricately designed forests in his custom whips that mutate into ladybugs, spaceships, and Transformers-like vehicles. You can check out the video below and stay tuned for ...
Amid social turmoil and demands for racial justice in the United States and beyond, many activists, politicians, musicians, and celebrities have been speaking out in support of efforts geared toward positive change. A group of veteran musicians and activists have teamed up to voice their ongoing support and create a song to further raise awareness of the fight for social justice. Electro pioneer The Bloody Beetroots, artist and activist Shea Diamond, Imagine Dragons singer Dan Reynolds, and Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave guitar legend Tom Morello have joined forces for “Stand Up,” an anthem demanding social justice. Driven by the solidarity shown at a Black Lives Matter rally in his hometown of Livertyville, Illinois, Morello wa...
Within the past years, Quality Goods Records has been providing the electronic music world with some of the most unique bass music gems out there. Spearheaded by trap legend UZ, the tastemaker imprint has released music by the likes of GANZ, Ian Munro, Rome In Silver, sumthin sumthin and many more while cementing its name as a leading force within bass music. Quality Goods Records is now exploring a new direction with its latest release series, “Quality Vibes.” In an effort to shine the spotlight on artists who create more melodic and laid-back music, “Quality Vibes” is set to put the focus on storytelling rather than energetic buildups and gritty drops. The first release from the series is “Omelet,” a collaboration between producers ELK and Ch...
Ty Dolla $ign is kicking off his third studio album with a bang, enlisting the help of Skrillex, Kanye West, and FKA Twigs for “Ego Death.” When artists of this caliber get together on a track, you know a behemoth of a single is upon us, and all the chefs in the kitchen came together to collaborate on the ultimate club track. The single immediately smack us in the face with the 90s house sample of Ultra Nate‘s “Free,” leading into the infectious bass progression that will guide us through the rest of the track. It channels the energy West laid down in his 2016 song “Fade,” as Dolla $ign’s signature, smooth vocals deliver the self-esteem bruised croons. When West takes the mic, he throws down timely lines like, “One in four get loc...
Porter Robinson‘s Secret Sky fest was chock full of epic performances and IDs, and one that stood out was when San Holo dropped his edit of Soulja Boy‘s notorious single “Crank That.” In the clip below, you can see San Holo dancing through the motions, lighting candles which would later reveal his signature percentage sign, indicating how blessed and vibrant he’s feeling that day. After the trademark piano chords and “Soulja Boy off in this oh” comes in, our percentages shot up to 100. The amalgamation of the soaring melodies of San Holo and the 2007 hit, which ignited one of the most popular dances of the decade, create the ultimate remix we never knew we needed. You can check out the video below, which San Holo tweet...
