Hydraulix Leaves No Stone Unturned With Adrenaline-Fueled EP, “Exposure”

There’s no better time to become acquainted with Hydraulix than with his brand new EP, Exposure. The Australian bass music star sticks to his guns on his latest effort, a no-holds-barred, bass-fueled effort that’s meant to be played loud.  From the outset of “Reese’s Puffs,” which kickstarts with the ominous grind of distorted bass and trembling keys, the project blasts off with a tone-setting rush of frenetic synths, barking vocals and pure adrenaline. Not one to take his foot off the gas, Hydraulix keeps up the action on the glitched-out “Roller Coaster,” a grungy trap tune that pairs bellowing vowel basses with gated effects to blitz the senses. His psychedelic sound design sensibilities are further felt on the EP’s clo...

Carl Cox Reunites With Franky Wah for Stunning Techno Single, “See the Sun Rising”

Carl Cox‘s first album in over a decade continues to unfurl with his latest single, “See the Sun Rising” alongside Franky Wah. The two techno masterminds previously made dance floor magic with the euphoric “We Are One” in 2021, and thus a proper follow-up was all but certain. Cox’s heavy-handed kicks on “See the Sun Rising” punch through the mix expeditiously while the melodic techno sensibilities of Wah shine in the arrangement’s uplifting, arpeggiated melody. It’s a blend of sounds that Wah likened to a match made in heaven. “I think the record is a perfect combination of both mine and Carl’s underground sound,” Wah said in a press release shared with EDM.com. “Fast pumping drums and bass lines Carl is kn...

Preceding the 12-track collection, Infected Mushroom teamed up with Israeli compatriot Bliss for a 10-minute, face-melting space expedition called “A Cookie From Space.” Shortly after, they treated fans to a glitchy electro-rock rendition of Alannah Myles’ 1989 classic “Black Velvet” with help from singer-songwriter Ninet Tayeb. Now, the duo are crystallizing their quarter-century legacy with their latest full-length body of work. Infected Mushroom. c/o Press IM25 showcases Infected Mushroom’s expertise as veteran sound designers and takes fans on a visceral journey through their storied career. The new record welcomes a ...

Uniting a myriad of genres and influences, AIR APPARENT’s debut album couldn’t be a more impressive showcase of diversity and talent. Preceded by an exciting string of singles that offered a glimpse into his vibrant auditory world—such as the playful “100%” alongside ÊMIA—AIR APPARENT’s 12-track Chromatic album displays the Indian-American musician’s full range. Chromatic blends elements from ‘80s funk and electronic music, boasting a story that captures the highs and lows of a romantic relationship and the spectrum of emotions that come with it. “Cosmos” (with Constance) and “Wonderland” introduce listeners into the kaleidoscopic collection before the energy of Chromatic builds via the groovy production of “Dance” and the anthemic, future bass energy of “Bad For ...

Since releasing their debut single, “Escape,” earlier this year, Kaskade and deadmau5 have kept fans on the edge of their seats as Kx5. Today the duo continued to reveal more about the direction of their joint venture by way of “Take Me High,” a stunning house record they teased during their EDC Las Vegas 2022 performance, Kx5’s first headlining set. “Take Me High” feels like a natural escalation of “Escape.” While the new track is more uptempo and club-focused, its haunting vocals, tense builds and dramatic crescendos are signatures of deadmau5 and Kaskade, who have perhaps signaled a stylistic trend for their collaborative nom de plume.  Listen to “Take Me High” below. After debuting a track created alongside Skylar Grey almost a year ago, ILLENIUM has finally released their long-awaited collaboration. Premiered at one of the early stops on ILLENIUM’s “Fallen Embers” tour, “From the Ashes” sees the duo finally connect on a song after aspiring to join forces for quite some time. “I’ve wanted to work with her my entire career,” ILLENIUM tweeted earlier this month. From the get-go, it’s easy to gauge the chemistry between the two. ILLENIUM builds around Grey’s visceral vocals with finesse, producing melancholic keys and punchy drums like he does in many of his signature melodic bass anthems. Charging up the arrangement and building dramatic tension, ILLENIUM eventually unloads an emotive ...

Listen to GRiZ’s Sun-Kissed House Track, “On a High”

The next entry in GRiZ‘s long-running mixtape series, Chasing The Golden Hour, showcases the beauty of those golden hours when the sun hits just right and everything glows. Seven years ago, GRiZ picked up his instruments and drove right towards the sun with the release of the first chapter of Chasing The Golden Hour. Now, he’s returned with the second single off the upcoming fourth installment of the series. Like last week’s “Your Light,” “On a High” slows things down to help listeners bask in the warm energy that inspires the record’s title. Sultry vocals layered atop a disco-inspired, synth-laden bassline create a groove that’s best enjoyed on a chilly fall hike in the forest or a lakeside bike ride. A relaxing counterpart to his...
