Disclosure Produces Powerful Title Track for Chloe x Halle’s “Ungodly Hour” Album

What started off as just a turn of phrase has since become a defining track shaping Chloe x Halle‘s newly released sophomore album, Ungodly Hour. Even before there was an album, however, there was only a question. What can be said with the phrase “Ungodly Hour?” The R&B duo pondered this question and ultimately sought the answer with the help of hit-making UK duo Disclosure. After a day of writing together last year, the concept for the album’s title track had been developed.  “Ungodly Hour” can be seen as a bridge between the duo’s scintillating debut The Kids Are Alright and the weightier themes of their latest offering. Disclosure help set the tone with minimal yet delicately precise synth work. The approach gives ample space to th...

Listen to the Calvin Harris-Produced Titular Track from Example’s New Album “Some Nights Last for Days”

Back in 2012, Calvin Harris released “Well Be Coming Back,” a fiery dance pop tune that appeared on the Grammy Award-nominated producer’s 18 Months LP, alongside renowned English singer-songwriter and rapper Example. Who knew they were foreshadowing? Almost eight years later, Calvin Harris and Example have reconnected for the latter’s seventh studio album, Some Nights Last for Days, which was released yesterday, June 12th, via his own Staneric Recordings banner. Harris provides for the production for the record’s titular track, a sultry, disco-inspired slow-burner reminiscent of his work on Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 that brilliantly demonstrates the versatility of Example, who oscillates between fluid rapping and breezy crooning throughout. Elevat...

Tracy Young Drops Remix of Anabel Englund’s “See The Sky” in Honor of Pride Month

In honor of Pride Month, Grammy Award-winning producer Tracy Young has released a remix of Anabel Englund‘s spring 2020 single “See the Sky.” While the original pairs best with a relaxing day on the beach, Young’s rendition trades the sunshine for a neon-soaked nighttime skyline. Englund’s vocal talent combined with the intricate production of Young creates a bittersweet tune that will have you longing for those sweaty, crowded dancefloors. Touching on themes of wanting to escape and be free, the lyrics hit close to home for many of us.  Back in February, Young made history as the first female to ever be nominated and win the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for her remix of Madonna‘s “I Rise.” “I’m thrille...
