His performance was bursting at the seams with the distinct ingenuity, forward-thinking sonic flair, and pure rapture of a signature Porter Robinson set. San Holo is here to bless us as we’re all sitting inside our homes quarantined due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Dutch DJ/producer has released the last record of his stay vibrant collection, an EP he’s been adding one track to every week for the past two months. He began the project with the desire to release music that sounded genuine to himself, versus adapting to what it was he thought society wanted him to sound like. Luckily for fans of his solo work, the gorgeous tropical environment allowed him to shake off any doubt and harness his impressive songwriting abilities. With no clear light at the end of the pandemic’s tunnel in sight, many people are experienced a phenomenon known as “quarantine fatigue,” a behavioral instinct to return to pre-COVID-19 societal habits despite posing a danger to others. We suffer when our social bonds are broken.” In harrowing times like this, when we must comply with stay-at-home ordinances in order to keep ourselves and others safe, it’s easy to become stir-crazy and lose your sense of self. Enter Above & Beyond, who are doing their best to combat the psychologic pitfalls associated with the global lockdown by releasing Flow State Meditations o...

Baauer and graves Subvert Expectations with Massive “Black Beatles” Remix

Baauer and graves have both been known to keep listeners on their toes and expecting the unexpected, but the two have really outdone themselves this time.  Earlier in the week, graves teased that he and Baauer were planning on dropping a song together within the week. The announcement initially led some to believe the collaboration would be an original track and released as part of Baauer’s forthcoming PLANET’S MAD album.  As it turns out, it was something else entirely. Yesterday, graves conspicuously dropped the collaboration via a Dropbox file titled “Baauer graves thing.” The track inside is instantly identifiable as a bootleg remix of Rae Sremmurd‘s hit single “Black Beatles.” Despite the unconventional means of re...

Morgan Page and Mark Sixma Look to Brighter Days with “Our Song”

Morgan Page and Mark Sixma evoke a strong sense of nostalgia on their new collaborative single “Our Song.” The two veteran Armada Music producers, both hitmakers in their own right, combine their affinity for bright, uplifting melodies, reminding listeners that summer days are just around the corner. After hearing the storyline-style vocal, Sixma reached out to Page knowing that together, the two could take their ideas to the next level. The veteran producers exchanged versions of the song remotely—Sixma from the Netherlands, and Page from his studio in Los Angeles.  Given the remote circumstances under which the two producers produced “Our Song,” perhaps it’s only fitting that quarantined lifestyles will be the focus of their music video.  The forth...
