PRXZM masticated asteroids really gouda in this livestream. You’ll understand that ridiculous lede after watching a recent video by the dance music production and songwriting duo PRXZM, who recently challenged themselves to write a song using Mad Libs. Using suggestions from their live audience on Twitch, they got to work. They’d only ever done this one other time, when PRXZYM’s Emma Maidenberg was sick with Covid. “I wasn’t my best self,” she said. “And my voice didn’t sound that great.” But she made up for it this time around. Maidenberg started working on the lyrics and writing down seemingly random words that popped into her mind to get the Mad Lib started. “This already sounds like a Mad Lib,” her ba...

The EP had started to pick up steam long before its official release on streaming platforms, thanks to Kelland’s singles that preceded it. “You Know” (with Avry and Beach Season) is a pensive and emotive dance record, while “Lovesick” (with Sara Diamond) is a catchy house-pop tune. Freshly released singles “Thank You” (with Elijah Blond) and “Divine Timing” (with Dallas) are fine additions to the tracklist as well, completing a debut project that positions Kelland as an exciting name to watch. You know how when you need to pee, all you can do is think about how much you need to pee? That’s how Ned Franc and Jon Moody, of British funk electronica outfit Franc Moody, spent their pandemics. Only instead of an urgent need to urinate, they were faced with an unscratchable itch to hit the road and go on tour. And instead of ending with the satisfying flush of the loo, they were left with an entire concept album inspired by their adventures of yore, as well as the ones they hoped still hung on the horizon. “We were longing, craving, to be back on the road in our little tiny tour bus, our tin can tour bus,” Moody told EDM.com over Zoom. “The reality would’ve been us stopping off in some petrol station ordering a horrible hot dog and fifteen thousand packets of crisps and spilling coffee...

“Grapevine” – Lane 8 feat. Elderbrook Elderbrook’s tender vocals float gently above Lane 8’s bustling instrumentation on “Grapevine.” The song’s sentimental character is a result of a personal backstory. “Back when I was living in San Francisco after college, I used to regularly take road trips down to LA to visit friends (and usually go to a lot of raves),” Lane 8 wrote on Instagram. “I had a good job but I felt unfulfilled, and those trips came to provide meaning to my life as I started to figure out my purpose. part of the drive to LA is the infamous grapevine, which is where the chorus and title of this song come from. Whatever was going on in my life at that moment, passing through the grapevine was a time to process the past, regrets and disappointment, but also a moment where ...
