G Jones & EPROM Mesmerize Minds On Collaborative EP, Acid Disk 2

Somewhere along the way, G Jones and EPROM descended into a time warp, and they’ve brought the 90’s acid rave back with them. Perhaps it’s not enough to say the forward-thinking bass music heavyweights have merely brought it back – rather they’ve taken the reigns on the frenetic, psychedelic-infused genre and made it uniquely their own. Picking right up where they left off with their 2017 collaborative EP, Acid Disk 2 is seemingly everything all at once – swapping between trap, spirited drum & bass, and punchy acid house in rapid succession. With respect to the duo’s focus on incorporating classic acid synth textures, mind-melting stutters, and heavy-handed distortion, the two found ample room to play around with these staple sonics across the six-track EP while ...

Over the past few years, QUIX has cemented himself as one of the most exciting names to watch in dance music with his eclectic takes on trap and bass music. Directly following his anthemic drum & bass single, “Enter With Caution,” the acclaimed producer has now returned to Dim Mak to share “Pompeii,” an explosive trap gem that hints at an exciting return back to his roots. A collaboration with fellow producer Cyclops, and vocal contributions from the dark punk rock band, Crooked Bangs, “Pompeii” nicely puts QUIX’s genre-bending style on display. Starting off with playful melodies that quickly transition into full-scale cinematic production, “Pompeii” brings together sharp sound design in the first drop, before exploding into melodic bliss in its second climax. “The way the relationship...

Above & Beyond Usher In New Era Of Ambient Music With “Reflections” Imprint

Above & Beyond‘s new label imprint, minted for life’s ruminative moments, has arrived with its debut release.  Christening the label themselves, the famed dance music trio has dropped “Morning in Deira” and “Time Heals” respectively. With the first taste of what the group’s new imprint will have to offer, it’s plain to see the creative direction for Reflections will be far different compared to that of Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep. Despite the stylistic differences, the group has certainly shown their tenacity in the competitive label space with their beloved Anjunabeats having surpassed over twenty years of operations in late 2020. In stark contrast to the more traditionally-defined dance music offerings of their existing imprint...

With “So Far So Good” The Chainsmokers Harken Back To The Dawn of Their Mainstream Success

Prior to the release of their fourth studio LP, The Chainsmokers triumphantly tweeted “2016 is back.” The declaration, though somewhat ambiguous, loosely set the tone for what to expect from the prolific duo’s latest effort, So Far So Good. Harkening back to the era of the duo’s breakthrough Collage EP, we’re reminded of The Chainsmokers’ ability to succinctly craft expressive dance-pop with mainstream success. The declaration would seemingly appear to be a clear acknowledgment of what put the duo on top, and their intentions to reclaim that mantle. With So Far So Good out in full, the album is every bit as self-reflective, heartfelt, and nostalgic as we’d hoped. From throwing caution to the wind and seizing the moment on the summery R...
