Louis Futon Announces Sophomore Album, Drops Funky Lead Single “Ron Burgundy”

True to form, Louis Futon brought out some flute, saxophone, and trumpet to christen the announcement of his long-awaited sophomore album.  The multi-genre producer incorporated all those wind instruments in his funky new track “Ron Burgundy,” which is of course named after Will Ferrell’s iconic character from the Anchorman films. Quickly moving past a gentle intro, Futon uncorks a groovy bassline before a fluttering flute takes center stage. What follows is a medley of trumpet, sax, and bass that offers danceable energy with a jazz fusion twist. Fans of Flume can finally exhale. After a yearlong drought of new music, the electronic music virtuoso has arrived with a huge remix of Danny L Harle’s “On A Mountain,” which appeared on the renowned producer’s debut full-length album Harlecore. The original track, which blends elements of breakbeat and màkina music, has been mutated into a glitched-out rush of phantasmagoric future bass. While some super-fans have known about the side project—dubbed leae—for some time now, after browsing some of Rebillet’s near decade-old tracks, we felt it was time to unearth them. It looks like NGHTMRE and Smokepurpp are on the verge of dropping an epic collaboration. Over the weekend, NGHTMRE performed at STORY Miami and brought up the famed “Audi” rapper for part of his set. The next day, he posted a few photos from the show with a not-so-subtle hint that a new song is on the way. “NGHTMRE x Smokepurpp at STORY Miami last night,” the caption reads. “We got a mf heater incoming.” Unfortunately, NGHTMRE stopped short of divulging any more information about the collab, including a title or release date. But considering NGHTMRE’s bold message, the track could be released any day now.
