Xenia Rubinos Shares New Song “Who Shot Ya?”: Stream

Xenia Rubinos has returned with a new song called “Who Shot Ya?”. Following last year’s singles “Diosa” and “Bugeisha”, and this past April’s collaboration with Helado Negro, “Who Shot Ya?” serves as only Rubinos’ third release since dropping her Black Terry Cat album back in 2016. “Who Shot Ya?” includes stark yet glistening production, fluttering Auto-tune, and a choppy chorus that features the phrase “Get it”, delivered like a righteous demand. Our former CoSign definitely has her own unique style, but artists like FKA twigs and Empress Of are reasonable reference points for her artful yet enveloping breed of experimental R&B. Lyrically, the new single touches on a number of racial justice topics that have dominated the discourse throughout 2020 — from police brutality and our ...

Run the Jewels’ “yankee and the brave (ep. 4)” video Over the weekend, Run the Jewels aired their “Holy Calamavote” concert special on Adult Swim, giving a live debut to their latest masterpiece, RTJ4. Now, RTJ has today shared a cartoon video for the album track “yankee and the brave (ep. 4)”. Once again presented by Adult Swim, the Sean Solomon-directed clip was animated by Titmouse, the production house behind shows like Metalocalypse, The Venture Bros., and Big Mouth. For “yankee and the brave (ep. 4)”, they drew up a complete retelling of the track’s narrative — only with evil mechanical police as the antagonists. Though as Titmouse founder Chris Prynoski explained in a statement, there may actually be some truth to this fiction. “Killer Mike and El-P, would f*** up ...

Kevin Parker Is All of Tame Impala in “Why Won’t They Talk to Me?” Performance Video: Watch

Because of the size and sound of the project, it’s easy to think of Tame Impala as a full band. But really, all of that music stems from the “group’s” mastermind, Kevin Parker. The Australian artist reminds us of this in a new performance video for the Lonerism cut “Why Won’t They Talk to Me?” Filmed for the Adobe MAX creative conference by frequent collaborator Alex Haygarth, the clip finds Parker playing every instrument and even singing backup vocals — all three harmonies. Haygarth shot the thing in an empty floor space, with Parker setting up different instruments in different sections of the room. Using some nifty editing techniques, it ends up looking like the musician really cloned himself to fill out all of Tame Impala’s ranks. Check out the creative performance below. Editors̵...

As its name implies, the track is guaranteed to spark an all-night living room dance party. For a few precious minutes, we can pretend like we’re not locked in our apartments! The clip was directed by Joey Brodnax, who has worked with Maroney in the past. The Weeknd Literally Loses His Head in New Video for “Too Late”: Watch

The Weeknd has literally lost his head in the gory new music video for the After Hours cut “Too Late”. As it happens, the artist born Abel Tesfaye isn’t the only character in “Too Late” who suffers from neck-connectivity issues. Then there are the female protagonists — err, antagonists? — who begin the video driving home from a rousing session of plastic surgery. They spend all their time wearing elaborate face bandages (and little else) so it’s almost as if they, too, are missing their craniums. The plot developments are disturbingly raunchy, extremely graphic, and almost certainly NSFW. Altogether, watching “Too Late” is like an R&B twist on Washington Irving; call it The Headless Hoes, Man. The video was directed by Cliqua, and you can check it out below. The Weeknd c...

Origin of the Alimonies was originally announced last year alongside 2019’s excellent H.A.Q.Q.. Both albums were planned for a 2020 release, but the band’s chief songwriter and leader Hunter Hunt-Hendrix altered those plans, surprise releasing H.A.Q.Q. while holding back Origin, which had previously been performed live as a proper opera. The move worked out, giving each album the spotlight it rightfully deserves. H.A.Q.Q. was greeted with overwhelming praise for its combination of composed black metal and Hunt-Hendrix’s microtonal produc...

Ministry Unveil New “Git Up, Get Out ‘N Vote” Video, Promote “Soundtrack to Your Election” Playlist: Stream

Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen has been an outspoken critic of the status quo in U.S. politics, as evidenced by the band’s politically charged 2018 album AmeriKKKant. Now, the band is encouraging its fans to vote in this upcoming election with a new lyric video for the 2012 song, “Git Up, Get Out ‘N Vote”. The track first appeared on Ministry’s 2012’s album, Relapse, gaining some notoriety for its outright direct message of encouraging people to vote. Atypical subject matter for most metal bands, but right in the wheelhouse for Jourgensen and company. Ministry first started its 2020 voting campaign back in July, enabling fans register to vote through the band’s website and other means. The band also created a 30-song “Soundtrack to Your Election” Spotify playlist to raise voter awareness ...
