In addition to Beyoncé, husband Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy, other guests included Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Kelly Rowland, Lori Harvey and sister duo Chloe x Halle, who are signed to Queen B’s Parkwood label. In the photo, the trio all shared a color theme, with Halle sporting a black dress with silver embellishments and cutouts around her...

Rihanna Continues To Tease “Lift Me Up,” Revealing Single Cover Art

Yesterday, Marvel confirmed rumors that Rihanna would be contributing a song to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. The company posted a teaser showing the Wakanda Forever title transforming into an “R” alongside the date October 28, 2022. The film will premiere two weeks later on November 11. Along with reposting Marvel’s announcement video, Rihanna has now followed up by sharing the cover art for her forthcoming single, “Lift Me Up.” The cover art simply pictures a close-up of the singer in black-and-white, her name and the song’s title. “Lift Me Up” was co-written by Rihanna, returning Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Göransson, who composed the score for both the original and sequel films, as well as Nigerian artist Tems. The track will mark the end of Rihanna’...

Conjure Up a Halloween Playlist With These Horror-Themed Hip-Hop Tracks

While Christmas music seems to dominate the entire month of December, Halloween has yet to be given the same attention. For years, come Halloween, supermarkets and radio stations have played the same old stuff ad nauseum — cue “Monster Mash.” Hip-hop, however, has been engrossed with horror, going so far as to dedicate a subgenre to music that sounds like it was designed to be streamed during the spooky season. Branching out from gangsta rap, the oft-forgotten horrorcore uses the supernatural as a metaphor for real-life themes of violence, drug abuse and death. Though not all horrorcore songs are that bleak, they’re usually darkly transgressive, and their influence has permeated throughout rappers old and new. The 1980s old-school wave, for instance, often pulled from horrorcore when sampl...

Harry Styles Morphs Into a Bearded Merman in “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” Video

Harry Styles on Thursday released the official music video for his popular Harry’s House track, “Music for a Sushi Restaurant,” directed by Aube Perrie. In the video, Styles morphs into a bearded, tentacle-endowed merman, who washes ashore and ends up in the hands of a squad of sushi chefs. At the restaurant, fittingly called Gill’s, Styles is terrified by the sight of fellow sea creatures being prepped for dinner. Panicked, he fights for his survival and ultimately wins over the kitchen. Styles then receives something of an oceanic spa treatment while listening to his own song and relaxing with under-eye patches and a black sleep mask. “Can I touch your tail?” one patron asks before they are sharply scolded with a slap from Styles’ tentacle. Later, the singer finds himself performing...

Kanye West Wanted to Name 2018 Album After Hitler: Report

Kanye West has an “obsession” with Adolf Hitler and once considered naming his 2018 album after the Nazi leader. The revelation comes from a new CNN report, which cites a former business executive who worked for West as well as several other unnamed sources. The executive, who left his position and reached a settlement with West over the rapper’s workplace behavior, told CNN that West “would praise Hitler by saying how incredible it was that he was able to accumulate so much power and would talk about all the great things he and the Nazi Party achieved for the German people.” West also spoke openly about reading Mein Kampf — even though he claims to have never read any book — and expressed his “admiration” for Hitler and the Nazis and for their use of propaganda, the executive added. Adver...

Matt Sorum Announces Kings of Chaos Album, Reunites Velvet Revolver Lineup for First Single “Judgement Day”: Stream

Veteran drummer Matt Sorum has announced the debut album from his all-star project Kings of Chaos, and reunited the Velvet Revolver lineup for the new single “Judgement Day.” Sorum performed and co-wrote “Judgement Day” alongside Slash, Duff McKagan, and Dave Kushner — all of whom played with Sorum in Velvet Revolver, the mid-2000s hard rock supergroup fronted by the late Scott Weiland. The song lives up to its all-star billing, with a high-speed pace and blazing leads from Slash and Kushner. Sorum handles lead vocals and sounds great on the mic, embracing the humor and punkish bite of the track. That humor transfers over to the music video, which features a cameo from ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, and sees Sorum driving like a madman in an homage to Vanishing Point, screaming the song lyrics al...

Top 5 Mötley Crüe Guitarist Candidates Following Mick Mars’ Retirement from Touring

With Mick Mars stepping away from touring, one of the highest profile guitar gigs in rock music is now on the job market. Mötley Crüe’s founding axeman will still remain a member of the band, but will no longer play live shows due to his ongoing battle with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a crippling degenerative disease that affects the spine. In addition to his health issues, Mars is the elder statesman of the Crüe, roughly a decade older than everyone else in the band. In the infamous Crüe biography The Dirt, Mars described how he often caught flak for his age, as he was already established as a journeyman guitarist in the years prior to Mötley Crüe’s formation. Given Mars’ experience, it’s only fitting that Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and Vince Neil tap someone who not only fits the part but has al...
