Mac DeMarco x Snail Mail Quietly Release Playful Single “A Cuckhold’s Refrain”

A little-known collaboration between Mac DeMarco and Snail Mail, the solo project of indie singer-songwriter Lindsey Jordan, has premiered online. The single, entitled “A Cuckhold’s Refrain – Peppermint Patty,” was reportedly recorded two years ago in DeMarco’s garage, per Pitchfork, and was posted on Monday to a rarely-used YouTube channel. Alongside the two lead singers, the song features musical duo DOMi & JD Beck and Kansas-born pop artist Deaton Chris Anthony. True to its name, “A Cuckhold’s Refrain” tells the story of a man forced to sleep in the shed after his wife takes on another lover. Slated to drop on Friday, September 30, the project follows the Compton rapper’s 2019 release, 4Real 4Real, and 2020’s My Life 4Hunnid. Future has sold his catalog from the years 2004 to 2020 to Influence Media Partners. While the exact price of the catalog wasn’t disclosed, a source close to the deal told Variety that the rapper fetched a price in the “high eight figures.” Beginning with the launch of his career, the sixteen-year period saw Future release 612 singles across eight studio albums, in addition to collaborations, a reissued LP, mixtapes and songs not listed on any full-length project.
