Even Fame & Stardom Can’t Take Away Tems’ Peace of Mind

Hearing Tems speak is as soothing as hearing her sing.  During our 20-minute conversation, you realize how cerebral and calculated the Afrobeats singer is. She doesn’t rush to answer questions: She pauses and then gingerly paces her way through until she reaches the goal line. Even when she encounters a less-weighty topic, such as remixing a song of choice, she lingers — before cueing up a response that makes you want to join in on the action and jam alongside her down Oxford Street.  “I would choose Bob Marley’s ‘Is This Love’ or ‘No Woman Don’t Cry,’ because those are one of my favorites,” she says reassuringly. “I’m in London right now, so ‘Is This Love’ is the best song to listen to when walking down any street in London. You should try it whenever you’re here, just to try it...

Rolling Loud Says That Travis Scott Wasn’t Banned From Playing Miami Venue After All

Travis Scott won’t be replacing Ye as a headliner at Rolling Loud Miami this year, but according to the festival, the decision was merely a matter of incompatible scheduling rather than blowback from the tragedy at Astroworld. Initially, festival co-founder Tariq Cherif claimed in since-deleted Instagram comments that the “venue won’t allow Travis because of Astroworld deaths” as organizers were seeking an eleventh-hour replacement for Ye, but now the official word is that was never the case. See K-Pop’s SEVENTEEN Explore the “WORLD” in New Music Video

In the new music video for their single “_WORLD,” K-pop boy band SEVENTEEN is dropped off in what looks to be a dusty and abandoned town. “Welcome to World” a billboard in the distance reads. The visual then cuts to an exploration of a vibrant city. After S.Coups and Mingyu step out of a taxi parked in front of the airport, the 13-member group reunites to delve into exploring their new surroundings. “Like a déjà vu of heaven,” the members sing in the chorus of “_WORLD.” “Meet up, let’s start your interview / I can give you everything you want.” The track serves as the lead song off of SEVENTEEN’s Sector 17, a repackaged edition of its latest album, Face the Sun. Medellín’s Emerging Voices Are Championing Inclusivity Through Reggaeton

When bars shut their doors, musicians packed away their equipment and live music came to a startling halt in 2020, the whole world went quiet. “Who will save nightlife?” asked HYPEBEAST as lockdown measures came into effect, questioning the future existence of the very thing that keeps people going outside of the nine-to-five grind. It was a question that plagued every major event organizer. When life began to return to normal it was time to reset the dancefloor – something Ballantine’s has championed, with further help from Boiler Room and their collaborative True Music Studios initiative. Rage Against the Machine Call Out Violence Against Indigenous Peoples in Canada

Having already thrown up many a middle finger at America’s long history of systemic oppression, Rage Against the Machine are proving that true rage doesn’t need a passport, exploring Canada’s past and present violence towards indigenous peoples at a June 15th concert at Bluesfest in Ottawa. As RATM had previously done beginning with the the kick off to their reunion tour, the band displayed facts and calls to action on a display screen behind the stage. “An Indigenous person in Canada is over 10 times more likely to be shot and killed by a police officer than a white person is,” one screen read, in reference to a CTV News investigation. “In Canada, Indigenous women and girls are 16 times more likely to be murdered or to disappear than white women are,” another text displayed...

Fred Durst’s “Personal Health Concerns” Force Limp Bizkit to Postpone UK/European Tour

Limp Bizkit have postponed their upcoming UK/European tour due to frontman Fred Durst’s “personal health concerns.” The unfortunate news came via a statement released by Limp Bizkit, as well as an additional video message from Durst. The singer explained that his doctor advised him to cease touring activities following results from a medical examination. Said Durst in his video message [as transcribed by Blabbermouth]: “In preparation for the 2022 summer tour in U.K. and Europe, I have decided to do some tests to make sure I’m in good physical condition and everything’s okay. And to my surprise, my doctor has decided to send me a letter telling me he would not like me to tour at this time and to stay close by to do some more tests. Taylor Swift‘s “Blank Space” joined an elite club on Monday (July 18) by surpassing more than three billion views on YouTube. The superstar joins the ranks of less than a dozen other music videos to reach the same massive milestone, including Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s record holder “Despacito,” which boasts more than 7.9 billion views as the most-watched video of all time. Interestingly, Swift’s clever tale of exacting revenge on a rotating door of “Starbucks lovers” is only the third visual by a female artist to blow past the three billion mark, along with Katy Perry‘s 2012 hit “Roar” and its jungle-themed antics and her own visual for fellow 1989-era smash “Shake It Off.” (For all their other YouTube records, like being the most subscribed act on the platform with more than 75 m...

The Chainsmokers Ready For a Performance That’s Out of This World

One of The Chainsmokers’ latest hits is “High” and they’re hoping to live up to their lyrics. The hit-making duo of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall have signed up to get into a pressurized capsule tethered to a stratospheric balloon in a few years and perform some 20 miles above the Earth. The feat would make Taggart and Pall the first musical artists to perform at the edge of space, said Ryan Hartman, chief executive officer at fledgling space tourism company World View, to The Associated Press. World View says The Chainsmokers will be on one of the company’s inaugural flights slated for 2024 and will record a performance from inside the capsule, giving viewers the ability to experience the music and the trip firsthand. “We have always dreamed of going to space and are stoked to collaborate wi...
