Bauhaus kicked off their 2022 reunion tour on Tuesday night (May 17th) at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon. The legendary rock act’s set featured several covers and leaned heavily on their seminal 1980 album In the Flat Field. Interestingly, their recent single “Drink the New Wine,” Bauhaus’ first new music in 14 years, was absent from the setlist. Photographer Jeffrey Donavan was on the ground, soaking up the action for Consequence; the night marked the group’s first headlining show after they a trio of shows in late 2019. Additional US dates were scheduled in 2020, but naturally were canceled due to the pandemic. The Metric renaissance is in full swing. The indie rock band’s eighth studio album Formentera is coming July 8th, and they’re offering another preview today with the 10-minute epic “Doomscroller” and its accompanying music video. “Doomscroller” is essentially divided into two parts: Its front half starts with a steady bass line and four-on-the-floor beat, embellished with scintillating synths. The instrumentals build into a roaring blast of dark house music, as singer Emily Haines’ vocals are distorted to oblivion. Then, the track drops into a piano ballad, before revving things back up with a more rock-forward finale. As its title implies, “Doomscroller” evokes the anxiety of witnessing the news cycle in the digital age, where disaster always feels as though it’s just one tweet away....

Compton-based hip-hop visual artist Riskie Forever first painted the album cover art for Tupac’s The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory in 1996. Released posthumously under his pseudonym Makaveli, the record marked the rapper’s fifth studio album and had been recorded in seven days. Over two and a half decades since the album’s release, Forever has partnered with Zelus and Heritage Auctions to auction off the original cover art painting. The auction will not only consist of the physical artwork, which consists of airbrushed paint of canvas, but will also comprise a one-of-one NFT. Forever was introduced to 2Pac by Suge Knight, who had shown his art portfolio to the rapper. “I remember giving ‘Pac the painting officially, I knew then this was something special,” Forever said in a press relea...
Following his performance of the track on Saturday Night Live this weekend, Post Malone has dropped the official music video for “Cooped Up” featuring Roddy Ricch. The elevated visual, which was directed by Andre Bato, sees Malone perform his opening bars in a blue suit jacket and turtleneck from a playfully futuristic bedroom, before Ricch enters through a red door to deliver his lines. “I’m about to pull up / Hit switch, pull curtain / And I been waiting so long / Now I gotta resurface,” Malone sings on the chorus. “And yeah! We boutta toast up / All that bread that we burning / ‘Cause I been feeling cooped up / I been fu*king cooped up.” A group of dancers, who are dressed in all red and orange, then abruptly enter the room and circle the two rappers for the final sequence. Posty m...
