Dawes Announce Misadventures of Doomscroller LP, Share “Someone Else’s Café / Doomscroller Tries to Relax”: Stream

Dawes have announced their eighth studio album, Misadventures of Doomscroller. Arriving July 22nd via Rounder Records, the seven-track LP is being previewed today with the jazzy nine-minute single “Someone Else’s Café / Doomscroller Tries to Relax.” Recorded alongside producer Jonathan Wilson (who also helmed 2018’s Passwords), the new LP follows 2020’s Good Luck with Whatever (which featured one of our favorite songs of that year, “Didn’t Fix Me”). This latest full-length finds the Los Angeles quartet going from a minimalist approach to a deliberately maximalist one. Bassist Wylie Gelber described it in a press release as, “Eight legs and eight arms, in a room, stretching deeper than we ever knew we could… The intros have outros. The outros have bridges.” Added frontman Taylor G...

Every Arcade Fire Song Ranked from Worst to Best

Rank and File finds us sorting through an exhaustive, comprehensive body of work or collection of pop-culture artifacts. This time, we celebrate Arcade Fire’s entire catalogue by revisiting all 85 of their anthems. This article originally ran in 2017 and has been updated as of May 6th, 2022 to mark the release of WE. From the very first notes of their debut album — those gleaming wind-chime like synths, the chugging guitar, the regal piano — Arcade Fire became one of those remarkably few life-changing, era-defining bands in indie rock history. Their songs soared, creaked, ached, and roared, breathing vibrant, triumphant life and passion. For over two decades, the New Orleans-by-way-of-Montreal band have continued to push and challenge themselves, drawing from their own confrontation with p...

Now, Netflix has released a clip from the showcase, which you can watch below. “I’ve had a really weird year; I had an AIDS scare this year,” he deadpanned before quipping, “No, Kanye told me I had AIDS. And he’s a genius, so I was like, ‘Oh, fuck.’ I was like, ‘I better call my doctor, the guy who made College Dropout thinks I have AIDS.’” The Saturday Night Live star went on to bust out a pitch-perfect John Mulaney impression, claiming that the fellow comedian called him upon hearing the rumor in order to say, “AIDS? You should spread a rumor that he has polio!” Advertisement...

Zach Bryan & Luke Combs Make Inroads for Country on the Billboard Global 200

The May 7-dated Billboard Global 200 chart includes 21 debuts from a range of artists spanning genres and continents, including Argentine producers, South Korean pop singers and German rappers.
