Rap Song of the Week breaks down the new hip-hop tracks you need to hear every Friday. Check out the full playlist here. This week, Nigo reunites Tyler, the Creator and A$AP Rocky on “Lost & Found Freestyle 2019.” Back in July 2018, longtime friends Tyler, the Creator and A$AP Rocky teased an impending project called WANG$AP in the video for their freestyle “Potato Salad.” Since the duo had name-dropped the collaboration twice before, fans were understandably excited to hear a full album from the sartorial rappers. However, Tyler immediately splashed cold water on the idea, tweeting he was going to “kill Rocky” for getting people’s hopes up. According to the LA native, all he wanted to do was rap over Monica’s 2003 classic, “Knock Knock.” Since then, Tyler and Rocky have linked up...

A song of joyful defiance. Hans Zimmer took a moment to honor a Ukrainian pianist during his London concert earlier this week. National Geographic photographer John Stanmeyer captured the moment in a Lviv subway station and posted the video on social media. “When bomb sirens began, police asked everyone to move inside the railway station,” wrote Stanmeyer in the Instagram caption. “Alex @alexpian_official wouldn’t stop, playing his piano louder against the air raid warning. Kamaal Williams Embodies the Sound of the London Underground

“Being a musician or instrumentalist is a dying art in a way.” Do you want to further pursue not just graffiti, but art, in the traditional sense, that would one day be shown in a gallery setting? Definitely. I’m really doing that now. I feel like they’re the same thing to me. I do different things, sometimes it’s in the form of music, sometimes it’ll manifest in the form of a canvas or video or just a conversation. It’s just me — it’s a life thing. Everything I do in life is through the lens of art. I’ve always had that art influence from my parents, who were both architects. For me, life is constantly through the lens of art. Music is art. When I go to a museum or exhibition, that’s where I feel like, ‘okay, this feels like art to me.’ But when I log onto Spotify…do you know what I mean?...
