A now-deleted tweet from Rolling Loud sent the internet into a frenzy as fans speculated the possible release date of Kendrick Lamar‘s highly-anticipated upcoming album. Shortly after announcing K-Dot as a Rolling Loud Miami 2022 headliner alongside Kanye “Ye” West and Future, the Rolling Loud Twitter account shared, “Kendrick headlining Miami again means exactly what you think it means. It’s been 5 long years.” As fans flooded the replies with their own theories, the tweets were deleted and replaced with “It’s been 5 long years since Kendrick headlined Rolling Loud Miami.” The tweets referred to Lamar’s headlining set at Rolling Loud Miami 2017, which took place less than a month after he dropped DAMN. in April of that year. Fans shared that “it would be insanity” if the Compton rapper he...
Epic Games, the developer behind the battle royale game Fortnite, has officially announced its acquisition of music streaming and purchasing platform Bandcamp. Both companies confirmed the news on separate blog posts, but did not disclose the terms and cost of the deal. Bandcamp CEO and co-founder Ethan Diamond also clarified that the acquisition will not change how the platform operates, stating that he will remain in his position and that Bandcamp will still be “a standalone marketplace and music community.” The involvement of Epic Games, however, will allow the platform to “expand internationally and push development forward across Bandcamp, from basics like our album pages, mobile apps, merch tools, payment system, and search and discovery features, to newer initiatives like ...
After threatening to “beat Pete Davidson’s ass” on his recent single “Eazy,” Kanye West has taken his grudge with his ex-wife’s boyfriend below the surface. In a new music video for The Game collaboration, Kanye kidnaps a claymation version of Davidson and buries him alive. Watch the clip via Instagram below. The black-and-white visual starts off with The Game performing his name-dropping opening verse while sitting atop a casket. Later on, the Compton rapper meets up with his late idol Eazy-E while in claymation form. Then, the claymation Kanye comes into the picture, riding an ATV on the way to snatch up Davidson, who’s just minding his own business. After placing a burlap sack over the SNL star’s head, Kanye ties Davidson to the back of the vehicle and rides off into the desert. There, ...
Barrie has previewed her new album Barbara with a new single called “Concrete,” just in time for her upcoming world tour. Listen to the song and check out her forthcoming tour dates below. Warm with pulsating, reverb-heavy synths and Barrie Lindsey’s gentle voice, “Concrete” builds a shimmering soundscape while remaining relatively subdued. In a statement, the artist acknowledged this juxtaposition, touching on the awkward process of coming into your own. “[“Concrete”] is about taking the time and energy to figure out who you are. Learning to take up space and be yourself, unapologetically,” Barrie said. “This process can feel selfish and even sinister, depending on how you are conditioned socially… but the major modulation in the final chorus is about finding power and confidence in ...
Ben Shapiro, the cultural gadfly whose intellectual capabilities are dwarfed only by his diminutive height, called Joe Biden “the Kurt Cobain of politics,” and meant it as an insult. The former Never Trumper turned bootlicker extraordinaire made that utterance in response to Biden’s State of the Union Address. Shapiro was trying to spin out a metaphor, though the cognitive strain quickly defeated him. “Joe Biden is the Kurt Cobain of politics. He put a shotgun in the mouth of the American body politic and then pulled the trigger. And the brains are on the wall.” People who think words have meaning might point out that in this example, Biden is the author of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” in one sentence and then all of the American government in the next. Is Shapiro calling the President a murd...

CHVRCHES and Smith made “How Not to Drown” via email correspondence, CHVRCHES singer Lauren Mayberry revealed in an interview before the award show, so the band didn’t actually meet Smith until they began rehearsing for the show. “Shit myself, to be honest,” she said of her first interaction with Smith. After performing the single, which took home the Best Song By A UK...
YG and Moneybagg Yo performed their new track “Scared Money” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The duo rapped on a set that emulated a bank heist, with an open vault and stacks of cash. “Why you bring that money to the club if you ain’t throwin’ it?” YG raps in the song’s introduction. J. Cole, who also has a guest verse on the song, was absent from the performance. Produced by Gibbo, “Scared Money” is the lead single from the Long Beach rapper’s forthcoming sixth studio album Pray For Me. Out from Def Jam later this year, the LP follows 2020’s My Life4Hunnid, which had guest features from Lil Wayne, Tyga, Lil Tjay, Gunna and Ty Dolla $ign, among others. “It’s just the growth of me, my headspace, what I’m on in life,” YG said about the album in an interview with Power 106’s Power ...
When I first wrote about Tampa Bay’s They Hate Change last year, I called them one of the most exciting acts to be featured in my column. Today the duo announced their Jagjaguwar debut album Finally, New, out May 13th, and unleashed a new single titled “From the Floor.” Spanning 13 tracks, Finally, New takes inspiration from East Coast hip-hop, Miami bass, and drum ‘n’ bass, as well as more unexpected influences like post-punk, prog, and krautrock. “With this album, it’s really like, okay, you know how you talk about the internet breaking down borders? Here’s what that actually sounds like,” explained They Hate Change member Vonne in a statement. “It’s not just a hip-hop record with a couple more weird sounds. You want homegrown DIY? This is a record that was written, produced, and recorde...
Marilyn Manson has filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-fiancée Evan Rachel Wood, claiming that her abuse allegations amount to a “malicious falsehood.” Within the suit, the rocker insists that Wood and her “romantic partner” Ashley Gore (aka Illma Gore) forged an FBI letter to make it seem like there was a federal investigation of Manson and that his “alleged victims” were in danger. The singer’s lawsuit comes just over a year after Wood named Manson as her abuser, setting off a series of further assault claims by several other women. In the weeks that followed, Manson was dropped from his record label, eliminated from movie roles, and lambasted by former collaborators like Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland. Per the lawsuit, which was obtained by Consequence...
