Less than a year after sharing his self-titled fourth album, Vince Staples has another full-length project on the way. As a preview, the rapper has dropped “Magic,” the first single from the forthcoming Ramona Park Broke My Heart. With a bouncy pop-rap beat courtesy of Mustard, “Magic” is an instant earworm with a sunny exterior, although its subject matter has a darker connotation. The track sees Staples reminisce on his working-class upbringing in North Long Beach, California. “I’d never get to pull up in a Benz with my locs,” he quips. But now, with the hindsight of having “made it,” “Magic” instead serves as a celebration of overcoming systemic oppression. “I won’t ever tell ’em how I did it, it was magic,” he boasts, relishing in having beaten the odds stacked against him. Vince Staples and Mustard have joined forces on a new single, “Magic,” which arrives as the first track off of Staples’ upcoming record Ramona Park Broke My Heart. The album, which is slated to debut in April, will land as the follow-up to the top-shelf rapper’s self-titled album that was released last year. In a press release, Staples explains that “Magic” provides ample context for the overarching tone of Ramona Park. “I think it’ll put the listener in a good state of mind,” he said. “The mood of it defines the project.” “It’s symbolic of home,” he added of the project’s title, which pays homage to his hometown neighborhood of Ramona Park in Long Beach. “And everyone has a home. Even though it’s very personal to me, everyone can relate to it. That’s why I thought it would work for t...
Last August, Tinashe put out her fifth studio album 333. Ahead of the release of its deluxe version next month, out March 3, the singer has shared one of four new tracks. On “Naturally,” Tinashe remembers a magnetic relationship and longs to rekindle that fiery feeling for just one more night. “When it’s these nights, lonely, don’t even think twice,” she sings. “I know you’re coming back to me, anywhere, overseas, or in my dreams” The singer’s sensual vocals are paired with the single’s surprisingly bloody music video. After casually strolling through a field in a baroque dress, Tinashe puts her sharp-edged scythe to use. The visual is cut with a dance montage, with Tinashe and her crew decked out in cowboy ensembles. Stream Tinashe’s “Naturally” now. The 333 deluxe edition is out on March...
Whenever Pete Davidson is done with SNL, he should consider going into real estate because he’s living rent free in the head of a multi-billionaire. Throughout much of the weekend, Kanye West shared upwards of 50 Instagram posts about his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend. Among other things, West mocked Davidson’s tattoos, accused him of sleeping with Hillary Clinton, alleged the unfounded rumor that Davidson sent intimate photos of himself and Ariana Grande to Grande’s ex Mac Miller, took a swipe at Davidson’s close friend Machine Gun Kelly, and offered his SNL castmate Michael Che double his salary to leave the show. West also shared a series of fan-made memes, including one spoofing Captain America: Civil War, with West, Drake, and Julia Fox on one side, and Davidson, Kardashian, ...
A good Valentine’s Day gift should be something rare and personal, so consider this the greatest V-Day present ever: Godspeed! You Black Emperor have finally reissued their “lost” debut album, All Lights Fucked on the Hairy Amp Drooling. For years, 1994’s All Lights Fucked on the Hairy Amp Drooling was something akin to a myth. The effort was created almost entirely by Efrim Menuck under the name God Speed You Black Emperor! (note the different spelling and punctuation). According to the band, only 33 copies of the album existed on cassette, and even almost 30 years later, no confirmed tapes have turned up. Apparent leaks appeared online in 2013 and again earlier this month, but now GS!YBE has given the record an official release. Advertisement Related Video Shared via Bandcamp, ALFot...

Dragon, the ARIA Hall of Fame-inducted alternative rock outfit, had a string of hits during their prime, none greater than “April Sun In Cuba” from 1977. When Australia’s prime minister Scott Morrison covered the number Sunday night (Feb. 13) during a spot on national TV, it was a bona fide miss. That’s the critique from the song’s surviving creators.
