A$AP Rocky and $NOT have released a music video for their new song “Doja.” Directed by Hidji and produced by Rocky’s creative agency AWGE, the visual follows the rappers and their friends around New York City, from a tattoo parlor to an underground subway tunnel. As the video closes, the camera pans out to show a mural of the late designer Virgil Abloh painted on the side of a brick apartment building. The track is included on $NOT’s forthcoming LP, Ethereal, which is due for release on February 11 via 300 Entertainment. The project follows $NOT’s 2020 sophomore album, Beautiful Havoc, and also packs in features from Kevin Abstract, Joey Bada$$, Juicy J, Trippie Redd and Teddi Jones. The album cover art also stands out as it sees the rapper in an angelic texture, rocking CGI’s heavenl...
Netflix has given viewers a closer look at the Kanye West documentary Jeen-Yuhs in a new trailer. Directed by filmmaker duo Coodie and Chike, the first act of the three-part series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on February 16. The preview consists of a montage of footage from Ye’s early years as a rapper in Chicago. Asked how he would describe the album that he’s currently working on, a young Ye calls it “a breath of fresh air.” “It felt like the bigger Kanye got, the farther we grew apart,” Coodie narrates. “But there was more to Kanye’s story I needed to tell.” Netflix bills Jeen-Yuhs as an inside look into Ye’s path to becoming the influential rapper and tastemaker he’s known as today: Twenty-one years ago, Clarence ‘Coodie’ Simmons met Kanye West and saw something so special that...
Our recurring feature Rap Song of the Week breaks down the hip-hop songs you need to hear every Friday. Check out the full playlist here. This week, Megan Thee Stallion secures the bag with “Flamin’ Hottie.” Considering Megan Thee Stallion’s complicated record label situation, the H-Town Hottie is hardly bringing in the money that she should be for an artist of her stature. So no one begrudged her for teaming up with Popeyes last year, and now she’s partnered with Frito-Lay to promote Flamin’ Hot Cheetos (leaving Lil Xan in shambles) and Doritos. Later this month, Meg will be starring in a Super Bowl commercial alongside Charlie Puth, but today she’s given fans an idea of what to expect with “Flamin’ Hottie.” Meg at least put in more than a minimal effort into making the branded track...

For our favorite new songs from emerging artists, check out our Spotify New Sounds playlist. This week, the Red Hot Chili Peppers signal the arrival of their new era with the triumphant “Black Summer.” From the first warm tones of the guitar, two things are clear: Red Hot Chili Peppers are back, and John Frusciante has rejoined the legendary rockers. “Black Summer” marks the Chili Peppers’ first single since 2016’s lackluster The Gateway, and with Frusciante back, they sound renewed and refreshed. His signature guitar sound is heavily highlighted on “Black Summer,” linking perfectly with Flea’s energetic bass work and stepping out f...
Love can be confusing, and no one seems to know that better than Keshi. With the release of “Touch,” the alt-pop singer creates an anthem for those stuck in situationship purgatory. Lyrically, Keshi explores the depth of unrequited love and emotional unavailability, begging the question of “a touch, is it better than us to you?” — a feeling that twentysomethings around the world unfortunately know well. Unsurprisingly, the track reflects Keshi’s strong point of view as a producer, mixing both classical and modern elements to create a sound unique only to him. As the second single off his upcoming album, “Touch” gives listeners another glimpse into the world of Gabriel, gearing us up for what we can expect next. However, when it comes to Keshi, it’s probably safer to expect the unexpected. ...
By Ashley Oken On a recent Friday afternoon, musician Jeris Johnson, 25, ran his fingers through his blond hair while settling into a nondescript hotel room in Nashville after a frenzied few days of traveling on his first tour. It’s the same old ‘man with drums and [a] guitar’ and whatever else.” “Now I feel like we’re at a crisis point in rock music,” he continues, “where it actually will die if it keeps going down the path that it’s going down, because it’s not keeping up. It’s not capturing any...
